Frank will be back

Haith's Farewell Tour starts

Are last year's tickets still good ?

Don't want to miss it

Rick told me he could be removed no criteria was discussed after this year with help from booster but next year he is on last year of contract.

I also think we're overlooking the fact that Haith had two upperclassmen ineligible due to academics. One of them had a full year of not traveling due to a RS and should have had time to work on academics. Not only are we performing like crap on the court, we're also doing a disservice to the players in terms of preparing them for the future.
I hadn't really thought about this but it's a great point.

Haith has a year on his contract but it will never be shorter unless you have a designated coach in waiting. ( We don’t). So the best possible time to retire a coach is at the end of this season. His contract actually starts later in the spring but you have to get a new coach quickly. We might be hoping some schools end their season early so we can contact Coaches or assistants early. There should already be a “ list”. Some may not like this but I think we need to go outside the current program for a head coach. Ctt has some good names. I have a couple.

We have spent a ton of money on those players as upperclassmen over the years. Why one of the assistants was not monitoring them daily perplexes me. If one of our assistants (not mentioning name) is weak in basketball experience at least this would be an important job for him, Frank.
1 guy could be a fluke. 2 is a trend.

One game, a season does not make. We are holding our opponents to 69.8 ppg. Good for 204th in the country. Offensively we're sitting at 69.0 ppg good for 243rd.

We're 333rd in rebounding out of 350(ish) teams. 267th in FT attempted. 260th in 3PA, and we're shooting well under 50% on 2 point attempts. The only thing we're somewhat decent at is steals.
How can anyone ignore this?

Of course Frank has to keep encouraging his players but the rest of the world needs to be objective.

I was told he was given two years at end of last if he would accept a reduced salary probably about half and greatly reduced buyout. He said his first goal when he got here was to get both salaries in line which he has done. Trust that Rick is aware of attendance being down he hates that the most. I think he will do the right things. He took care of the womens problem and hit a home run

I do feel better that we suck for cheap. It really burned me that we were paying a lot to suck.

  • J.D. Barnett was fired Wednesday as Tulsa's head basketball coach, with three years remaining on his contract. The official announcement came one day after first-year TU president Robert H. Donaldson requested the coach's resignation during a meeting with Barnett and TU athletic director Rick Dickson.

Even at the reduced cost were still paying a sh!t ton to suck like we have been, plus it’s costing money at the turnstiles, as well as likely in advertising, in concession and merchandise sale and licensing. Not to mention the cost to the reputation of the program and school.

Haith hasn’t cussed out a player’s parent yet.

So going outside the program means no English? Cuz that's the only one internal, worth considering.

We don't know for sure ! But we do know Rick was in on the firing of JD and hired Tubby Smith. On Wojcik's firing : "Since 2005, we have seen a 35 percent decrease in season-ticket sales, a 43 percent decrease in revenue and rapidly growing apathy among our fan base," Parmley added. "Basketball is expected to be a revenue-producing sport and a marquee sport at The University of Tulsa."

Minimal payments vs lost revenue and support

yes, that's the cost of having a sucky coach. But you have those costs whether you're paying the sucky coach a lot or a little.

Frnak needs to go, and the sooner the better. Does Elon need a coach? Their current record is similar to ours.

And Donaldson wasn't necessarily a friend to athletics at all. It was under him TU made the admissions standards higher and they eliminated the HPER majors that Rader said made it difficult to recruit JUCOs to fill in the gaps.

If Haith is retained on any basis, it will be the end of TU basketball as we have known it......When a coach
loses a team during a tough season it is absolutely over.....It would take more time to try to square that
up than there is time left, and even then there would be no guarantees.....

I would like to keep our two guards.....They show promise for the future....It would also be great to keep
our two signees.....They look to have some promise......

He has had his turn in the barrel, and now seems on the decline.....Either he doesn't communicate well,
or his players are hard of hearing.....

We need to make the smoothest transition possible, with the least PR noise possible, but it needs to
be done.....

If you have watched much BB, you realize that he has few set plays, and most generally runs plays that
would equate to play ground BB on the Chicago outside courts....As the season wears on, the teams
that run more set plays in a more disciplined system, get better and better at what they do....We
seem to struggle at the end of games, and at the end of seasons......

If we don't replace him at the end of the season, the sell out to mediocrity will be complete... .There
is no earthly reason Monty is going to be our FB coach next season......

Maybe I have lived too long, or held a burning interest in TU sports too long.....What ever has
happened, it doesn't seem as much fun as it used to be.....We seem to be a feint shadow of the
"Way we were"......

Rick, and we don't know all of the restraints he is under, isn't getting it done....I would seriously
doubt he has very much (if any) authority to hire and fire....Who ever does is making some very
bad decisions...........

It just feels like he’s pizzing on the grave of Tulsa basketball. Does that compare?
Yes it does.....If you are looking for evidence, Isn't that his shovel over in the corner that
has all of the fresh dirt on it?

President needs to
Donne Frank a mandatory
Pass to small boys room.

I'm no expert on basketball strategy, but attendance is bad enough that it would be justified to fire him for that alone.
I would think he would (hopefully will) be dismissed more for the reasons that attendance is down.....
I saw many "walk-thru scrimmages" under Nolan where the players Moved faster than they do
during the last five minutes of our games recently.....

I love good college basketball, but won't watch this stuff......I did watch the last five minutes of the
game before last, but not even a minute of the last one....I just can't handle it....

Haith seems to be in a daze, and his staff doesn't seem much more enthused than he is....Surely,
given the way the season has unfolded, that they have put in an extra effort in practice on end of
game situations....?? Really? It still looks the same.....

I don't think anyone on this board feels we have every last player we need to compete equally every
game with the upper crust of the AAC, but the majority of us do expect to see a team that looks
competently coached....Sadly, for almost the entirety of this season, and many, many games over
the last several seasons, that has been anything but the case.....

Rick needs to take some action....Haith, and for that matter, some of his slow walking staff, can't
possibly be put in the position of "lame duck" coaching next year''s team.....If we're talking about a
disaster with long term consequences, that is certainly one in the making, and the last thing we
need for T.U. basketball........

Why so grumpy you might ask.....I'm running out of time is why.....Reconstruction takes a while, and
I would love to be here.....Sadly, I also feel the program is also running out of time, if we are talking
about getting it turned around in a near-term manner.....

What was the ol' "Smokey and the Bandit" ditty? "We've got a long way to go, and a short time to
get to get there".........

The University of Kentucky produced a tribute to Tubby Smith as they raised his banner into the rafters at Rupp over the holidays.

He thanked his old boss, JD Barnett, not Rick Dickson or Donaldson or Pitino, for getting him started as a head coach.

Rick’s a great guy doing tremendous things. He’s not going to solve this himself or with suggestions from fans.

Then it won't be solved.....No one below him can, and no one above him will without him and a bunch of
us screaming to high Heavens,,,,The Marxist Bros that run this university don't give a damn, and prob.
wouldn't know how to do it if they did care.....

By the way, I'm having trouble with the tremendous things he has done/is doing in men's major sports.....
I'm having trouble finding them.......We have the worst coaches in men's FB/BB in the whole conference,
and their combined inabilities are the worst I have seen in my long tenure of watching T.U. sports.....

Haith assembled one of the most below average staffs in D1.

No energy.

Tulsa can only thrive with energy - smart and deliberate energy.

It's not there. And the admin just doesn't care.

Tubby always spoke well of jd Barnett who he was an assistant with. Had several crazy stories of Barnett’s antics but always thought he was a really good basketball coach.
