Or any naia schools love his optimism but please post again after this 10 game stretch to end the season and tell me how your crazy unfounded prediction did.I think you may be by yourself 1981. I think the title of your post might need to be "Frank will be back at least till we go to Wichita Tuesday." USF would not have beaten anyone in Division One tonight. Not a game for a Coach to gloat over.

We beat Memphis here 80-40I thought TU would scrape by for a Vegas projected 6 point win
This was a 31 point rout holding a conference team under 50
Wonder when the last time an American team didn’t score 50 here?
That’s also when we had a coach on the staff who taught and demanded defensive performance. We replaced him with Toby Flenderson. We beat Memphis here 80-40
Sometimes people stay married for love, sometimes because one side has a good pre-nup, sometimes because it's just too much of a pain in the butt to separate and maybe sometimes just because the old nag makes a divine ratatouille. Who can say someone's reasons? Whatever the reason, I think you're wasting your breath because obviously nobody would keep Frank based on performance. If anyone (including Carson or Rick) think that a win over a terrible team should save your job after 8 years of mediocrity, then they deserve what comes to them. Frank was at Missouri for 3 years. He got to two NCAA tournaments and a NIT, and they still decided to not continue with him. We've had this same subpar mediocrity for 8, COUNT EM', 8 years.
This year is almost guaranteed to be his 4th season in 6 with a losing record in conference and his 3rd without a winning record overall. I don't care if Haith beat Duke and coach K on their home floor in a last minute scheduling.... I still wouldn't bring him back.
If we throw out the two seasons where he was handed a good team and did his best to squander their opportunities.... we've literally only had a single season in 6 seasons where we would have even sniffed the post season and it would have assuredly been the NIT.
Again. If, after this season, the powers that be choose to retain Haith and essentially publicly say that one NIT appearance every 6 years is acceptable then they can count me out as a fan of Tulsa basketball for good.
I think Carson is still too busy trying to book MountainGoats and Jason Isbell to play the Reynolds Center to worry about the basketball team.If Carson truly has a goal of seeing 5,000 fans in the Reynolds Center for a men’s basketball game, then Frnak will not be brought back as the coach.
He might make a run that WILL save his job but that's a lot different than one that SHOULD save his job. I'd say given the disaster of the start of the season, to stay next year, he needs to lose no more than 2 more regular season games and at least make the AAC finals and win a game in the NIT. Anything else and he should go. Just my dos pesos. My only point was to say that a job saving run is quite possible.
I didn’t say I wanted that to happen or that it’s best for the program. Who knows how it will all turn out, I just want what is best for TU basketball.
Me saying nothing of any consequence is why this thread says nothing.
This ^ --- This ^ is why!
So the last time we held an American opponent to under 50 was last year when we held Memphis to 49 points in Memphis. That’s also when we had a coach on the staff who taught and demanded defensive performance. We replaced him with Toby Flenderson.
I didn't like the hire then, that's immortalized on this board. But the point of Gragg losing all other candidates right after Danny Manning is well made. Expectations at that time were high, Haith slid in a looked good on paper.News from Missouri upon Haith's arrival here. Gragg basically had lost all his candidates earlier that week.
"Haith's Tigers underachieved in his final two seasons, playing erratic defense and turnover-prone offense with a roster that often looked as though the pieces simply didn't fit together right. Worse yet, he relied on transfers in need of a second chance and seldom landed any top high school recruits, leaving a barren roster for the next staff.
When Haith bolted for Tulsa, he tried to insist he was leaving Missouri for a more attractive job, citing Tulsa's rich basketball history, financial commitment to the program and new conference affiliation.
At the time that rang phony because it seemed he was trying to avoid the chopping block and gain greater job security. Now we know it was probably not only Missouri's on-court struggles but also the specter of looming NCAA violations that chased him away.
Will Tulsa learn from Missouri's mistakes with Haith? Or will the Golden Hurricane continue to employ a coach who has now had major violations occur twice under his watch? The latter appears to be the school's choice at this point."
The only run that SHOULD save his job is a run through the conference tournament and into the NCAA tournament. No doubt that would justify a return. Nothing else period. He might make a run that WILL save his job but that's a lot different than one that SHOULD save his job. I guess I'm a little easier grader but I could certainly be convinced by your point. And he needs to almost win out, too, so it's not just a lucky 4 game stretch. The only run that SHOULD save his job is a run through the conference tournament and into the NCAA tournament. No doubt that would justify a return. Nothing else period.
He's always gotten out of trouble before by taking a new job. I mean, we can hope, right?Haith has more lives than a cat. Nothing would shock me.
He was AAC coach of the year in 2020 right? Any school in -let's say the A10- should be delighted to get him. He's always gotten out of trouble before by taking a new job. I mean, we can hope, right?

One game, a season does not make. We are holding our opponents to 69.8 ppg. Good for 204th in the country. Offensively we're sitting at 69.0 ppg good for 243rd.So the last time we held an American opponent to under 50 was last year when we held Memphis to 49 points in Memphis.
Besides the results on the floor, if I'm evaluating Haith's performance, I am looking at the recruiting an roster building aspect. We have 7-8 new players each year and that should never be the norm. I understand the portal and free agency makes things weird, but he's building a roster of castoffs and running all his own HS recruits off...not that those HS recruits should be here anyway. He's run off 3-4 FR who probably would have been really good players for us now. We've got a couple of gamers coming in next year but that shouldn't be a reason to hold on to Frank. He's not building his team the right way and the lack of cohesion year after year after year is easy to see.If anyone (including Carson or Rick) think that a win over a terrible team should save your job after 8 years of mediocrity, then they deserve what comes to them. We have spent a ton of money on those players as upperclassmen over the years. Why one of the assistants was not monitoring them daily perplexes me. If one of our assistants (not mentioning name) is weak in basketball experience at least this would be an important job for him, Frank.I also think we're overlooking the fact that Haith had two upperclassmen ineligible due to academics. One of them had a full year of not traveling due to a RS and should have had time to work on academics. Not only are we performing like crap on the court, we're also doing a disservice to the players in terms of preparing them for the future.
