Felton Leaving

Congrats to Coach Felton. Haith needs to bring in a big man/defensive specialist as an assistant. Someone who can help bolter the recruiting would help too.

Jeez Louise the hits just keep on coming. Good luck Mr. Felton.

You want assistants who move on to HC gigs. I know it makes it difficult for the HC to keep things consistent, but it also means the guys you had are quality.

Didn't someone mention Cason might be leaving TX? Do you think he would come here to work with Haith?

He's already gone.

I'm all for Rod too, except I agree with Bill Lowery that our coaching staff is a little too inexperienced to automatically say let's add Rod.

But if we hire another inexperienced guy we could save money that would go to a Big time ball handling coach, haha

I'm all for Cason, but I doubt that happens. The Thompson thing seems too much like Mizzou hiring Porter's dad or Tubby hiring the Lawson's father. Any chance we could hire Dennis Rodman and have our team be rebounding champions?

touche- did not realize the AAU part

If Haith can't find a defensive whiz I'd be good with Thompson. The best players usually beat X's and O's- unless you play for Sean Miller (lately, I'm sure a number of coaches could work with that scenario)

Cason was/is a really good recruiter....We need that (Yesterday, today, and
tomorrow).....I'm beginning to wonder if Shea may not be better suited to X's
& O's than to recruiting......I hope he proves my 'wonderings' wrong......

We obviously do need some experience in that lead assistant's position......

If we hired Cason as the lead assistant and Rod as a non recruiting assistant/director of basketball operations/director of player development we probably couldn't go wrong with that. But their interest and/or Haith's interest probably don't match up with that.

Any chance Schwartz could return in an elevated position? Would an Associate HC at TU make more than the 3rd/4th chair at UT? I can't imagine Felton was making peanuts based on his resume.

IMO, Schwartz is an ideal candidate, 10 years of bench/recruiting experience, career arc still trajecting, best years ahead of him, but not too young.

I don't think we can get Schwartz back, but that is my first pick, also.

It's difficult to see Texas improving dramatically as a lot of their top level talent is all NBA type talent as well. Their FR-C is a really good player and probably would get drafted in the 1st round. The guard play on that team was just so inconsistent from game to game.

Schwartz is next level on X's and O's. I don't know that Cason fills any needs right now.

Got it. I was not impressed with players he brought in. Seemed like a nice guy and he seemed to have Haiths ear during games. It maybe that Seals and English can do all the recruiting we need. IF so I would go with the best X&O guy we can find. If not, Cason would be a big asset IMO.

I don't see Cason returning to TU for anything less than HC. I see him latching on with a former connection, such as Stallings at Pitt.
