Favorite 5 TU basketball players

Favorites I saw at the Fairgrounds: Bingo, Grasshopper, Bracey, Willie B, Leon Shotgun Alvoid, Larry "I can jump outta the gym" Cheatham, Dana Lewis and my golfin' buddy little Timmy Carson. Just to name a few.

Few remember Jim Clesson, who played with Bracey and Lewis and was an excellent outside shot. He would have been a star if he'd played in the 3-point era. As it was, he was good enough to play a couple of years in the NBA.

I’m one that remembers Clesson. I’ve mentioned this on the boards before but will again. I remember him making a shot from the deep corner but the officials said one foot was out of bounds. He and Willie Biles, along with Richard Fuqua of ORU had tremendous range.

Blond JUCO out of Calif. He could shoot the eyes out of it....If Bracey and
Clesson had been on a good team, they would have really been something...

I remember the Kennon (Dr. K.), Roninson, Finch team for Memphis that
went to the final four coming into the Fairgrounds.....Bracey and Clesson
hit every thing they put up, but Kennon hit a buzzer beater from way out
to win the game....Really a great exhibition of shooting by both teams....

That team should have been better than it was. It had three NBA signees, Bracey, Clesson and Dana Lewis. Lewis was a first-round pick but he never played a minute in the NBA.

Larry Kenon only played one year in Memphis and it was the season after Bracey and Clesson graduated.

The Kenon/Biles shootout in ‘73 was the best game I ever saw at the Fairgrounds. Those guys were good.

My top 5 would be Paul Pressey, Ricky Ross, Shea Seals, Rod Thompson, and Steve Harris. My next 5 would be
Ben Uzoh, Jerome Jordan, Jordan Clarkson, Shaquille Harrison and Dante Swanson!
