That was the back story I wanted to hear. Such an insightful statement to men who have fathered children and the need for them to be present in their kids lives. Truly awesome!
As a kid who never got to have that validating moment with my dad (who has since passed), I can understand his feelings there. So many emotions going on at one time. That was touching.
I think Elijah's situation, like mine, wasn't just that his dad wasn't able to attend games... it was more that there have been periods where the dad was estranged from him for some reason. Elijah supposedly grew up with his mom and a step dad and hadn't had much communication with his dad until recently. It's a bit different than your dad having to miss games for work or whatever.Dads missing games is a really crappy feeling. That was an awesome moment and I'm not ashamed to admit I got teary eyed watching. Even in your 20's, like Elijah, you're still a kid with your parents.

I can't wait for the night(s) any two of the above go off for 20+. 'twill be a Memphis style beatdown. TU Basketball: Mamba Mentality! How many of our guys have had 20+ point games this season? I’m pretty sure Joiner, Rachal, Horne, Igbanu, and Jackson all have. Nice to have options for who’s going to be “the man” on any given night.
I am thankful to know the story is not nearly as juicy as what ESPN was probably hoping or what the Twitterverse was speculating. Immediate reaction on Twitter from some WSU fans was “Dad was probably a gang banger and in jail”.More back story and interview with both Joiners: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-b...ather-reflect-college-basketball-viral-moment
