Like these 2 additions. Didn't see much of Jeffries at ORU. He had 5 pts, 3 rebs, and 1 steal in 18 min at TU last year. ORU bio said he battled an illness midseason. Scored double figures and led team in rebounds 6 times each as a true Freshman last year. I imagine he wasn't happy with playing time. For those worried about some type of tampering by our staff, Jeffries played high school ball with Curran Scott. Also on that Edmond Santa Fe squad was Tre Evans, who I believe we were recruiting at one time.

Joiner could be a star. He's listed as a SG on Rivals, but Verbal Commits and ESPN list him as a PG. Offers from Iowa St, Texas A&M, Missouri, among others. Not too shabby. Doesn't have great size, not overly athletic, but looks like he is confident and can ball.

Both players helped lead their teams to state final appearances in high school, the 1st appearance for Joiner's school.

Follow Joiner on Twitter. He retweets a lot of stuff said about him. There's a lot of chatter of how people will wonder how he ended up at Tulsa and by a P5.

The highlight not on there is one where he crossed over an East StL player who subsequently fell over because he got his feet tangled up trying to follow Joiner. Joiner then blows by for a 10 foot pull up which he short armed a bit. The handle is definitely A+

Joiner will add something we're missing right now; a confident point guard who can drive, dish, and score. Taplin could be this player, but he has been inconsistent and is still too passive imo. Shaq was this player the last few years, but couldn't shoot.

Eric Bossi compared Joiner to Troy Caupain of Cincinnati.

We could have used Joiner at UALR. He hit 2 fts with 7.5 seconds left to seal the win. Both teams won Illinois state titles last year.

So glad there's an early signing period in basketball. If there wasn't, I'm pretty confident a big basketball school would've come in later to offer Joiner. He certainly looks like a big time steal for us.

Joiner already had some pretty big time offers, including Iowa State, Texas A&M, and Missouri. You're probably right though, he most likely would have picked up some bigger offers had he not signed. Really good find for this staff. I don't want to look too far ahead, but I think we have a good chance to be a tourney team next year with these two additions, as well as Curran Scott.

I haven't given up on this year's team just yet. We really need more production out of Taplin and Birt. Next year, we only lose Birt. Daquan Jeffries is 6'5, extremely athletic, and has a 7 ft wingspan. He will be a defensive specialist, something else we are lacking this year. I'm very excited about the future, and believe this team has a chance to be much better than the senior laden group we had last year.
