FAU coach Charlie Partridge:

Opening Remarks

"I'm excited to finally be in game week. Three weeks of school prior to the first game is unique. I think the kids have handled it well. I think it has been good for us in terms of getting our legs back from the start of camp and practicing every day and I think that has been good. From a health status, right now Derek Moise is projected to be out for the season (knee). Jakobi Smith, right now all indicators are that he will practice tomorrow (Tuesday). Probably in a limited fashion and will work his way through the week. Raekwon Williams continues to work his way back and is probable for the game. We have a number of other guys with treatments for things that are just a part of football. Trey Hendrickson - sounds like he will do everything tomorrow in practice. So, good signs in terms of where we are. Kemar Downer will be non-contact early in the week but will be available for the game."

On Tulsa

"Tulsa, certainly will be a challenge for our first road game. I'm excited to see where we are in terms of our goals. One of them (goals) is to win a road game. I'm excited to see how we perform and prepare from that standpoint. They provide plenty of challenges. He (Philip Montgomery) is a heck of a football coach. All you have to do it read his bio. It speaks for itself. They will have a powerful offense. Tops in the country the last several years (at Baylor). All indicators are that he will be calling the plays from everything I have read."

"The thing about Tulsa is their talent with their two receivers and the compliments to them. Their strengths play right into what I know Montgomery is going to want to do. Play as fast as he can possibly go and put the ball up. It will be a challenge from that standpoint. Defensively, they have a defensive lineman up front that got some all-conference honors for them last year - in Derrick Alexander, a 290-pounder that has talent. We have challenges this week. I will release the depth chart tomorrow afternoon."

On Heat and Cramping

"We have had a couple of guys cramp up. The heat down here is real. There were a couple of days that I went to John (Burnside, Head Athletic Trainer) and the heat index is in the lower 110s. That is significant. We did have a few guys cramping and that will be a tremendous challenge for us, especially on the defensive side of the ball anticipating somewhere between 80-100 plays, based on their tempo. I will be better able to answer that question after the game on Saturday."

Expected number of guys to play in the first game

"If you go by math. I came from a place where 63-64 was a lot of plays. Then, I come here and obviously the tempo is a little different. We are potentially going to be 70, 80, 90 plays on our offense and the same on the other side. So, you are at a game and a half. You will have to have multiple people playing so you are strong in the fourth quarter. We will play a decent number of people on both sides of the ball."
