Thought we could use a thread dedicated to China. China continues to position itself as one of the world superpowers. Perhaps the world superpower in the future. China continues to strengthen its influence across the globe. Meanwhile, US foreign policy appears adrift unable to focus on anything except Ukraine.

Is China laying the groundwork for war or more likely positioning itself to be able to negotiate favorable terms from a position of strength?

Its become a two pronged attack. I think we need to be focused on both. We can't ignore Russia & Ukraine, and we can't ignore what's going on in the China Sea and surrounding area. To do either would be a grave mistake. It's not one or the other.
