There is the rumor that Underwood agreed to the low salary with a promise from Holder to renegotiate if OSU won and went to the tournament this year when no one had any real hope for them. Holder didn't, Underwood bolted to a program that is basically the equivalent of Wake Forest in the ACC. They can improve but they'll never really move upOSU never offered $2.5M. They floated that number after the fact to not appear cheap. OSU proposed a modest salary increase. BU wasn't pleased. Holder thought best not to engage BU in talks after the initial offer. BU became tired of no talks or legitimate offers and agreed to take the Illinios job. Holder had no idea he was even considering other options. Talk about misreading a situation.
You mean nevers similar to Baylor is never gonna be any good at foo'ball? There are lots of 'nevers' floating around in this thread.

I am taking Joy in their feeling our pain.
Tom Abatemarco would be a perfect choice for OSU. He knows every coaching staff in America since he has been on most of them. He could hire Gottlieb as his assistant and they could own Twitter. and maybe Dan Wolken as Director of Basketball Operations.
Sounds like Holder knew that Illinois and Washington were talking to Underwood, for Underwood to not show for a contract meeting with Holder a day before the Michigan game told Holder he was likely losing his coach after the tournament. This can't be the shock that Holder is portraying it to be.
But the AD is your benefactor's guy. Make him mad and you are Iowa State, except your stadium faces the wrong direction.
OSU needs to realize basketball is their premiere program and pay their coaches like it.
Yikes....It certainly ain't livestock hurdling. You have some fans who never seem to clear the hurdle and get stuck.
He current poor level of play at ORU may have closed that door on many future opportunities. He may need to rebuild the program again if he wishes to move up the coaching ranks. He's had opportunities in the past but stayed so who knows???Maybe Scott Sutton will finally get his chance at osu. He has no drinking problem like his father or a prescription drug problem like his brother, and they will never have to worry about him leaving for another school!
I saw that Chris (Kris?) Martin is transferring from ORU after his Soph (?) year. That really leaves the cupboard bare for next year, and Fuqua's son doesn't arrive until the year after that. It appears Scott survived this bad year. I wonder if he can survive two in a row.
I've also heard that Haith doesn't want to continue the series (not trying to start that thread up again), but I think the game here next year is the last of the current contract.
Thanks. That explains the patience with Scott Sutton.
