Got it. My comment was not directed at immigration. I have seen a fair amount of evidence of cheating by citizens trying to beat the system to get vaccinated early. It is not just illegals.
While we should be using system to vaccinate the most vulnerable first it should be all of the most vulnerable whether they are legal or not. If we are going to use vaccination to reach the fabled herd immunity then we need to have enough of the population inoculated to make it matter. We do not need several million people here illegally infected and continting to spread a virus capable of mutating into something that that vaccine will not prevent. The best way to keep the virus from mutating is to keep it from spreading.
As to you mentioning people cheating the system in Texas, people cheat the system everywhere. At least in Texas you have to stay in the county you live and register in. In Oklahoma you can register in any county you want to. People with means drive hours away to get vaccinated while people who don’t have the means just wait. Either way the economic and racial disparity in getting vaccinated it disgusting.

Nah you can go to whatever county you want out here in west Texas. That's how healthy 25 year olds from El Paso are getting vaccinated in Midland and Odessa. Basically all you have to do is say you have some kind of condition. And I think that's the way it should be regulation-wise. If you try to micromanage this stuff and stick to a strict criteria you end up not vaccinating people fast enough and wasting doses. Sometimes you have to rely on people to do the right thing and not everyone will. If someone from Oklahoma felt so inclined, they could probably get a shot in Midland pretty easily. Meanwhile, my diabetic, immunocompromised mother with a heart condition has had trouble getting an appointment in Tulsa.
As far as the economic and racial disparity of the vaccinations goes....that's not really the fault of the federal/state/local governments from what I can tell. There just seems to be a higher degree of vaccine refusal/skepticism in these communities. Same with the military. And just about everyone is slower on the draw getting these appointments than affluent white libs.

I'm scheduled for mine on Monday. They've finally moved to essential industry (utility) personnel in my state. It's absolutely not as loose as Texas though. I had to be given a passcode by my company so I could get it. My wife on the other hand, who has to work with the public all day, is unlikely to get one until it rolls out to the general under 40 public.
Actually they never told me and I forgot to ask. It will likely be Pfizer or Moderna though. My state isn’t set to get many J&J’s yet
I finally got a vac and am do for the second in two weeks. Pfizer from St. Francis.
The bill was called covid relief. but actually the covid part was only about 20% the rest was non covid stuff, otherwise known as pork. New laws and more spending.

$70 billion for covid relief for schools that won’t go back into session until two months left in the year
$20 billion for tribes that pay zero into the system
a family of four with two parents unemployed:
- $300/week/adult average unemployment check
-$300/week/adult stimulus addition to unemployment
-$1400x2 stimulus check
- $7600 child tax credit
that’s only $50,000 for this household between now and September. Hope they can survive.
Checks for everyone. Same thing Obama did when he got elected. We started mailing checks out.
other side of the aisle just wishes they would have done the last one bigger like trump suggested.
But this will ultimately drag a lot of folks slightly to the right in my opinion.

100B/1.9T =5% of the entire bill. That’s how much your line items at the top cost. I get your qualms with the list of checks, however it’s unlikely that a family of 4 will have both parents unemployed for that length of time. Also, $300 of that value that you listed isn’t in the Bill, it’s just the typical unemployment payment, which for many people only lasts for so many weeks.
Finally, $50K isn’t much for a family of four in a number of places in the US. Especially when it’s due to the household not having any income. When I was starting out, that’s what I was making as a single person and I can tell you that I had tight months with only the bills of a single adult in a relatively cheap state. I can’t imagine having to pay a payment for a multi-bedroom apartment, a car payment, utilities, and food for 4 people in a place like NY or CA with that amount and that’s if you don’t have any outstanding bills that developed during the pandemic as you had lost your job. Especially when we’re seeing increases in food and gasoline prices.

If their desire was to simply keep families in need afloat, then they might have been able to shave some dollars from that bill by tying the value of the payments for all of these line items to the Cost of Living in the state of residence. I think one disparity we’re seeing between Republicans and Democrats is that these Democrats are crafting the bills based on the needs and desires of their constituents... constituents who tend to live in urban places that have much higher costs of living than Republican constituents tend to. So, 50K might seem like a lot to someone in Oklahoma City or Dallas... but to someone in Chicago or Seattle, that’s next to nothing for a family of 4. It’s probably only enough to keep them afloat.

Translation: Bailout for Democrat run states who went along with the lockdown 😉. My mom, a staunch lifelong faithful Dem told me for the very first time in my life she is having buyers remorse on casting her vote and the agendas being pushed are not what she signed up for. She would never vote Republican however I’m 1000% positive that many share her thoughts. I have a strong feeling that at some point in the very near future, many who voted Dem will stop trying to rationally explain away the craziness we are experiencing.

All of that money you listed? That’s less than 5% of the Bill. Grand total for all of that is 94.275 Billion. To compare.... it’s roughly the budget of the department of the interior per year which is a minuscule part of the US budget.

And it was. So far, I’ve seen complaints about 10% of the Bill not being discretely related to the virus but only partially or tangentially related in certain cases. As well as complaints about the size and scale of relief that is directly related to the virus.
It's really madness. Almost $30T in debt and we're still loading feel good bills with copious amounts of pork. Just a fraction of the $1.9T is actually going to payments.
Still don't understand why inmates, illegals, and people on welfare get any.
I’m all for a Bill that pays the people directly to help assist the financially and provides relief for small businesses. My issue is everything else in the bill!
