Test, one, two three. Is this mic on?

Avoiding the heat the past few days, I watched You Tube videos of the 1991 football team: the second half of the Texas A&M upset and the Freedom Bowl in which emergency starter Ron Jackson ran roughshod over San Diego State while the Hurricane defense neutralized the nation's leading rusher and future NFL star Marshall Faulk.

Couple of random takeaways from those games:

Jerry Ostroski was an absolutely dominant offensive lineman and the rest of the line wasn't far behind him in size and ability.

TU's defense was solid, with very good line and linebackers.

Chris Penn was one of TU's most fun-to-watch pass catchers ever. So reliable.

Given good talent, Dave Rader was a good coach. His problem was that the level of talent eroded during his tenure.

The 1991 team might have been TU's best of all time (or at least from WWII) in terms of accomplishment and talent. At least a half-dozen from that team played NFL ball, some, like Big O, with significant careers. The other candidates for best-ever, IMO, would be John Cooper's 10-1 team in the early 1980s and Tod Graham's team that beat Notre Dame.
