This is a nice story on Ben and the struggles he's faced. I can understand what he's going through with the Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, I've been dealing with it most of my adult life.
Mine is caused from an extra rib sitting high on my left side. It pinches the nerves running through the outlet below my left armpit. It causes numbness down the left arm and intense muscle spasms in my left shoulder. It can produce feelings of an electrical shock in the neck area when the nerves pinch.
I've had 2 surgeries on the neck and shoulder and many hours of physical therapy. I've decided I'm too old to have additional surgery, like Jamie Garcia of the St Louis Cardinals and other MLB pitchers have had.
I wish Ben the best dealing with this problem and hope continued therapy will allow him to play well in the Olympics and to get back to the NBA.
