He’s gonna have to do it again ala football.

The worst thing that can happen to your fan base is for them to become apathetic and that’s exactly where TU is.

Sorry, but Konkol is the new “worst coach in Tulsa basketball history.” You’re off the hook John Phillips and/or Jim King or whoever you consider the worst because it’s Eric.

That’s all.

I’ve been saying this for a long time and we gave him an extension.

If it wasn't for the ESPN app push notifications I wouldn't have known. 40+ years of being a TU basketball fanatic and I don't care enough to know the schedule anymore. I feel sorry for the kids, they don't deserve this...
And this is really the problem. (60 years for me). Living the results of a bad previous AD.

Do we know that the extension increased the buyout? It doesn't have to. You could say "the term of this contract expires on May 1, 2029, provided that Employer may terminate at any time by paying an amount equal to one year base salary." In that case, it doesn't matter if the term runs through 2029, 2050 or 2090. I don't know how these contracts are structured but the extension does not necessarily require an increase in buyout. I find it hard to believe that we extended the buyout with the results we've had.

He’ll be on a winning streak by Saturday. That and the recent extension will be enough to keep him around until next year.

Gonna be interesting. Konkol seems to be settling in to about middle of the pack in the AAC. If he was a trainwreck again like year 1, he'd probably be gone. But how long can he stay if he's middle of the pack but clearly not going to get us where we want to get? Wojick got like 5 years in purgatory.....

You are a real optimist. We will see how it turns out.

I don't know, is saying he'll get to middle of the pack optimistic? Guess it depends on the question. It probably gets us another year with him, some might say that's pessimistic! He finished 8th last year and the conference is terrible this year, I bet we end up in the 7 - 9 range again, probably a place we should consider buying a home and settling in, at least for as long as we have Konkol.

Yes middle is optimistic based on our metrics. But we do seem to be trending up and could attain mediocrity if it keeps up!

Wojcik had 20 win seasons consistently for several years and made the NIT twice and won the CBI (meh). Konkol won’t sniff that.

Also his Strength of Schedule when tickling mediocrity’s balls from below has far and away been worse than the long lost beach boy.

Wojick was the worst case scenario. Too good to fire easily but not good enough to deliver the season we've all been waiting for. Certainly haven't seen anything yet to suggest that Konkol will get to Woj's level.

Haith had extreme highs and extreme lows, Wojick was never competitive against top teir teams but beat who he was supposed to beat. They were mediocre in their own unique ways.
Not exactly.

Wojcik almost beat a Calipari Memphis team at home one year. Maybe they were even #1?

Yep.
Terrible coaching by him Memphis’ final possession cost us that game.
Took them like 1.7 seconds to inbound from under their basket and get the winning bucket.
They weren't ranked #1 and we didn't win. Haith actually had several wins against ranked teams. I think we'll look back more positively on his tenure as time goes by.

Yes but his teams got worse over time.

Perhaps structural issues were a bigger part of it than we knew.

We are 2-2 in the conference. The American ain't great right now. We could easily finish this conference with a winning record. Wild to think about.

East Carolina, WSU, and South Florida are all winnable, and we go into Tulane on a solid footing to possibly win. Memphis is a loss. I would love to see some players pick up a couple of techs against Hagerty and just dirty the game up. Florida Atlantic is terrible.

The chips EASILY fall with us going on a 5-1 run right now. Wild. We have weird success in Phili. UTSA is nothing special.

I am just trying to be positive. Things can quickly turn about.

Who cares where we finish in the conference? Our stadium is empty, our net is lower than 300, and we have zero chance at the postseason.

Look at the big picture here. A total house cleaning is needed.

Ah, ah, ah... No Positive talk about basketball! He just can't help himself. It's an autonomic response out of him.

Seriously though. Let's play somebody like USF w/ dominant height and win before we start talking about runs. We just played two of the weakest teams in the league.
