American Athletic Conference Tournament

I have watched our conference tournament roll outs now for 39 years and this is the least interest I have ever seen in a Tulsa team or a Tulsa coach. If this is any clue, we will only have the families of the players in Memphis on Thursday. A long way from the 9 buses we sent to a regular season game at SMU in 2000.

It looks like football is in a similar situation. This year, only about 350 fans travelled to Fsyetteville, and at least 250 of those were players families. A far cry from the 6,000 ticket allotment that we would sell out back in the day.

We have a serious problem of continued mediocrity and lack of interest. Only middle aged and old folks can remember TU basketball being good.

Something big needs to change. Need some creative thinking.

We need a new AD bad. I have no idea what he is doing, but his public profile is zilch. The programs local profile is zero regardless of sport.

I'm over it. Our administration doesn't seem to care. My family has no interest in attending football or basketball games. I've found it difficult even with a good start to get people interested in going to games who are sports fans in general.

Apparently the feeling is recruiting some local kids is the only connection the University needs with the city. Our future home schedules are trash. Our coaches get extensions and plenty of time to run a program into the ground unless they're alumni, then we kill it right away no questions asked. If you aren't winning and you are eating your own, it's tough to build an "us vs them" feeling in the community.

I'll buy my season tickets most likely although I may wait till late summer this year, but I won't be attending games. I won't be buying the family packet for my brother because his children and wife don't want to go.

I will most likely do the same for basketball next year, excluding a crazy run to get in the NCAA's. I would hope they know how many ticket season holders aren't showing up. I doubt they are recieving the message.

Wojick killed our program in basketball, Monty is finishing the job with Gragg of killing our football program.

Not sure the school or anyone else cares anymore.

People are tired of going to the pigs house... I’m not going back to Fayetteville until I see them in Skelly....

I went to Fayetteville. I did so because I find it doubtful we will be playing there again any time soon. I took my nieces and nephews for the same reason and to give them a touchstone of History back to the beginning of the program.

I agree with Noble though. I'm over buy games, although I understand why we have them.

I’m not over buy games.. I’m just over the Arkansas game... 50 plus years with no return game from a program 2hrs away from Tulsa is Bullsh$t.

That in particular, but in general I am tired of making game decisions based on money. I understand the finances, I just would prefer home and homes.

hard to understand how a thread about the AAC tournament turned into yet another Fayetteville lament

I'm excited about the game Thursday because I hate the Ponies, want to send them home, and TU has the revenge factor.

Just a statement on the state of basketball at TU... there was a time when I would be angry that I had to choose between TU basketball and a baseball tournament... not so much anymore...

So maybe you could go find a baseball forum and stop posting here? We could use fewer posters with an active disdain for TU sports around here lately. Everyone wins.

Hire Steve kragthorpe as AD, if his health is ok. He rallied our football program when it was left for dead. Maybe he could save our athletic program, this time.

Predicting a Memphis -Houston semifinal.....

There were more TU fans than that....a lot more. They were just scattered throughout the stadium because you could buy tickets to the game 2 days before on Vivid or Seat Geek for $6 each. That's what I did and sat 15 rows up on the 20 yard line behind the Arkansas bench.

No. No. No.

This is typical of TU fans. He got us going and then absolutely quit on us...during the season I might add.

I am with you.

We are taking a cruise to Mexico for spring break starting Friday. Back in the late 90s early 00s I would be in a panic about missing something.

Now I feel like 'it would take a miracle anyway and I cannot ruin my vacation worrying about it.'

I really really hope we shock the world this weekend but not going to get too worked up or distracted.

Aww... did someone get their feelings hurt? We can get you a snow cone and a participation trophy.
