Wow. This was not the first week that anyone expected from the AAC, and these teams produced more questions than answers. USF got off to another slow start, UCF dominated FIU, and ECU... we don’t want to talk about it either. Here are the latest AAC Power Rankings, which give us a snapshot of how good each team is right now.
1. USF (2-0, Last Week: #1)
Maybe we overhyped them just a bit. Maybe they are playing down to their competition. Regardless, they are 2-0 and still have the most dangerous player in the conference in Quinton Flowers.
2. UCF (1-0, LW: #4)
A blowout was expected, but the Knights looked real good in the process. McKenzie Milton looked comfortable running Scott Frost's offense, and they'll need to continue with that success with Memphis due up next.
3. Memphis (1-0, LW: #2)
Speaking of the Tigers, it was a rough outing for Riley Furgeson, who completed just 10 passes and threw an interception. What's encouraging is the ground game picked up the slack and if they play like this all season, this offense will be hard to stop.
4. Houston (0-0, LW: #4)
Really wanted to put them at No. 1 after the video emerged of this team happily helping with the devastation in the area. Our hearts go out to the people of Houston.
5. SMU (1-0: LW: #7)
We expected the offense to be good, but they barely needed to do much as the defense made its share of plays as well. Whether that translates against better competition remains to be seen, but it was a good start to the season for the Mustangs.
6. Navy (1-0, LW: #9)
It doesn't matter who is under center for Ken Niumatalolo, their triple offense is hard to stop. We might have underestimated the Midshipmen as they halted the Lane Train in their opener.
7. Tulsa (0-1, LW: #6)
A 21-0 start for Oklahoma State was enough to keep the Golden Hurricane reeling. Tulsa did its best to fight back into the game, making the score 28-14 at one point before the Cowboys pulled away. The loss was expected, but didn’t hurt Tulsa’s ranking much.
8. Temple (0-1, LW: #5)
One thing we know for sure: the offensive and defensive lines need work. The Owls were dominated up front by Notre Dame on Saturday, and improvement will be needed for the Owls to compete in the conference. The offense shot themselves in the foot multiple times after the defense came up with a big play.
9. Cincinnati (1-0, LW: #8)
It wasn’t going to be pretty, but 1-0 looks a lot better than 0-1. The Bearcats didn’t exactly dominate, but some growing pains were to be expected.
10. Tulane (1-0, LW: #10)
It’s quite amazing what a quarterback can do for a team, and Jonathan Banks already has fans excited just one game into the season. Tulane put up 43 points last week, and that’s something they only did once last year. Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty to work on, but the Green Wave might just have an offense to compliment their defense.

Holy Crap! UConn was down 20-7 to Holy Cross. In the second half. It took a furious rally from the offense and some grit from the defense to get things done, but this one was a little too close for comfort.
12. ECU (0-1, LW: #12)
James Madison will have many thinking they will be the next team to jump to the FBS level, but it looks like they’re comfortable right where they are. The Dukes won by 20 and that included a touchdown by ECU with 23 seconds left. Can you trade FBS and FCS teams?
