I had a thought a while back, about when ORU was going through all its significant financial troubles... What if, instead of getting the huge contribution from the Hobby Lobby guy, Tulsa had just straight up bought the ORU campus. (With the help of investors of course) It would have given us all the space we needed for development, we could have eventually opened up new colleges (our own med school, architecture program, etc...)

We would have had space for new athletic stadiums facilities, and we would have space to grow our student population significantly. Plus it would have truly been "one city, one team". We could have kept some of the religious programs as a goodwill gesture to the alumni / supporters of ORU.

I think a move of that magnitude would have sent shockwaves through Tulsa and we would have come out of the scenario ...eventually... with a great deal of support from the community.
