I saw that CP wasn't playing for Milan and the PBP guy mentioned his replacement and that CP was injured. I hadn't heard he was hurt. Do you know if it's serious? It would suck if it is....he's playing the best soccer of his career right now.

Latest is back in early Jan. after "low grade calf muscle tear" but he'll miss a couple more Serie A games and Milan is somewhat doubtful to make Ch Lg top 4 and must improve in League play to make Europa Lg. They may have a new coach to attempt both.
It's weird how they've been struggling in Serie A but have been playing fairly well in Champions League this season.
Jedi with the unenviable task of marking Mo Salah today as Fulham visit Liverpool. Fulham scored inside of 10 minutes with Jedi getting the assist. And Fulham will be playing a man up for the remainder of the game as Andy Robertson got a RC for a DOGSO foul after a bad touch 35 yds from goal. Correct decision. None of the LFC players really argued it or got dwmonstrative.
Fulham and Liverpool played to a 2-2 draw. Jedi had assists on both Fulham goals and was the best player on the field for Fulham. Liverpool scored 2 in the second half playing down a man with the second coming about the 82'. Not sure how they didn't score a 3rd. If it were basketball they would have been called for 3 seconds as they were seemingly parked in the Fulham penalty area for about 2 minutes in stoppage time.

Gio Reyna's coach at Dortmund says he loves the guy. Today, he starts and scores Dortmund's only goal in a 1-1 tie. A real banger from about 17 yards out. His first in 583 days for the German club. Dortmund is drifting farther down the Bundesliga table and may not make Ch Lg. Pochettino is surely paying attention.
If Lando had been Gio, he would have left two years ago, taken a four-year sabbatical and ranted and raved about mental health issues. When World Cup 2026 rolled around, he would have demanded to get back on the team. Ponch would have told him to get bent and Lando would have whined like a bitch.
Tyler Adams played about 25 minutes for Bournemouth today. Looked good minus the handball PK called against him. It was iffy IMO. Did it touch his hand? Sure. Did it impact the play at all? No, as the cross fell to a West Ham player who got a pretty nice header in goal. Bournemouth ended up scoring a couple minutes later on an absolute screamer of a free kick from about 25 yards. 1-1 draw.

A win would have put Bournemouth in 5th over Man City on GD. Right now I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that Nottingham Forest is in 4th place ahead of City nearly halfway through the EPL season.
CP's old injury bug has bitten him again. While training by himself to recover from a slight calf tear, he tweaks an ankle. Milan could sure use him (8 goals & 5 assists despite missing 3 games with more to come & leads the team in scoring). The "Deuce", who had a similar injury with Fulham, warned Pulisic a couple weeks ago not to try to come back to soon, it won't work and sure enough......!
Brendan Aaronson scores the game's only goal late on for Leeds Utd. yesterday and keeps them 2 points clear at the top of the EFL Championship. Dude continues to improve his overall play as a starter for Leeds. It's halfway through the season and Leeds has a long way to go for Prem League promotion.
Pulisic, expected back in a couple weeks, and Musah, also injured, will have a new coach when they return as Milan finally dumped Fonseca. Their new coach, Conseicao, should be able to turn things around at Milan....it couldn't be much worse for a top club.

BTW, I don't know if EPL awards a coach of the year award but Nuno at Forest should win easily. The guy is such a tremendous manager if you give him the reins and decisions on player personnel. He did a great job at Wolves. His time at Spurs was marred by the fact he was juggling egos who didn't want to play his style and he wasn't allowed to bring in players to play his style because they weren't high profile enough for Spurs. Spurs like to spend money and make the high $ splash transfers (like United, like City). Sometimes those moves work, and sometimes they don't. But Nuno has Forest playing at a high level and he can claim one thing no one else in the world can claim since August 2024....a win over Liverpool.
BTW, speaking of Portuguese soccer...my son just acquired an FC Porto special Dragon jersey (22-23 season I believe) that was game worn by Pepe (#3). Look up the image...it's something.
Pulisic is so clutch! In that Italian SuperCoppa, Milan is 2 goals down in the 2nd half and a wicked free kick by Theo Hernandez brings them a goal back. CP gets a pass about 18 yds out, controls, then turns and slots the tying goal into the far corner in the 81st minute. He starts the game winner with a 20 yard pass to Rafa Laou who slides it to Tammy Abraham for a tap in, in the last minute of stoppage time.
And to win it vs Inter Milan, their hated, heavily favored rivals. I think Milan's new coach has lit a fire under this team but they need to keep winning in Serie A to move up the table (8th now) for Ch Lg next season. Conseicao must like his raw material to do so. And the 8 million euros to the winners plus a trophy should help their attitude adjustment.

Major Italian trophy for AC MIlan is a big deal. Hopefully Conceicao can figure out their backline because they always seem to concede an early goal and have to claw their way back. There's a lot of talent in the MF and up ton for Milan but they're going to win games in the back. I can't decide if they need a new GK or not...he will come up with a spectacular save one minute followed up by a boneheaded distribution that instantly puts them on their heels and in scramble mode.
Pulisic's pass that led to the winner for AC Milan was just a thing of beauty. His field vision is incredible to pick out that run and the ability to slip that pass at the precise moment to keep Leao onside and through the narrow slot between his defender and the defender marking Leao and at the perfect weight was just masterful.
Pulisic is an extremely hard worker in games. I wish referees would offer up more protection as he seems to be targeted by opponents, especially when we play Mexico. Many of the fouls he endures are YC worthy but some happen so early in games that referees are hesitant to saddle a MF with a YC 5 minutes into the match.

He got kicked in that calf that kept him out for a month. He won't play today but should be back on Tuesday for a Ch Lg game vs Girona of La Liga.
Gio Reyna is being looked at by Milan. Dortmund are asking 15-18 mill. euros. Milan will surely offer less if a bid is forthcoming. How cool would it be to have him join CP & Musah?

I set my DVR to record the US v Venezuela game yesterday before I realized there wasn’t an international break. I had never heard of most of the players in that game but Venezuela must have had the same problem as we won 3-1. The offense actually looked surprisingly good. Is this a Pochettino effect or are these players just not contaminated by Berhalter?
I know maybe only a few of these players called in by the US are going to have a shot at the Gold Cup and Nations League teams and the 2026 WC roster (Miles Robinson, Cremaschi, Ream, possibly Shaq Moore. Maybe Diego Luna if he starts playing to his talent potential). That said, Venezuela is usually not one of the top South American nations usually finishing close to the bottom of the CONMEBOL table. Most of their players are domestically based in Venezuela with their better players playing in other South American leagues or in MLS. I don't know if it was their A-side but my guess is it was closer to their B-side while the US rolled out their C- side. With a couple exceptions.
What I did see from this US side was a drive for each of the players on the field to prove something. The focus on defense, the hustle to make a play, some great pro-active runs. All good stuff. Maybe the worst part was the terrible PK take 2 minutes in (really, one of the worst PKs I've ever seen). There was a lot of positive stuff and it probably has a lot to do with Poch and having a bunch of players who haven't been poisoned by Berhalter's don't lose the game by attacking style (as you said).
And I like Schulte in goal. Good presence and solid technically for a GK.
