I surprisingly don't have much of an opinion about this either way.

Yea, "basketball only" just means "not football".I don't think anyone really means "only basketball" on this.

Are you kidding? The west would be as difficult as the football division. Wichita State, Memphis, SMU, us and a rapidly improving Houston. The east would have UCONN, Cincinnati, and Temple.

So Rothstein mentions Houston as a tourney regular? No Tulsa?
That is one of the problems the Tulsa basketball teams have, close rivalries. Not enough known close teams to stimulate attendance. Witchita St. is a no brainer. Tulsa needs to be first in line to vote for them. Offsets football only Navy.I was referring to the rivalries when I mentioned east vs west. Its all about travel-able games for us in the league and geography since there is a large geographic gap in the league . Close rivals is what we need to stimulate attendance and good schedules. IMO
Add Army, Boise State, San Diego State and Air Force (BYU ain't coming) - and that's one big time conference - better than Big 12'ish and up there with the Pac 10 most years.
So... if you add WSU for BB, then you'd have to add another BB member under my plan for a 16 team conference. Why not Gonzaga?
I saw that a little while ago. Honestly, I can see pros and cons with WSU, but ultimately it will come down to money. If they can generate enough additional revenue from espn to cover themselves and give everyone else a pay bump, I imagine they'll get an invite.
Except for Kansas the American is better than the big 12 in basketball overall. Memphis just beat OU at OU in overtime.
I doubt a 12-team AAC would split into divisions, likely scheduling pods, i.e 3 pods of 4 for annual home-home, then rotate home-home with other 2 pods bi-annually. All members plays each other atleast once annually. That's a helluva division and conference!
With their star back in the lineup?OSU just beat the hell out of WSU at WSU.

Welcome back. You'd been suspiciously quiet on the Wichita front after crowing all last year about how terrible they'd be when Baker and van Vleet graduated.
AAC is trending up BIG LEAGUE.... (plug for the kick ter elect) - and the football, well... unless TX becomes the national power that it should always be every year, the AAC with some key additions is a BETTER league than the Big 12'ish.
BIG 12 is crumbling. It's F'd up.
