These team seems on the verge of being a good coaching staff away from being almost a .500 team.

Unfortunately our best players now are Horne and Jackson who were secondary role guys on moderately good teams.
That says a lot about talent level. A LOT.

Haywood. Griffin. Draine - the other three guys in the game - unfortunately not AAC level talent at all.
Players underperform while they’re here and over perform when they transfer. All I care about is a new staff. The rest will sort itself out
Lawson Korita would be our best or second best all around player on this team. Says it all.
The answer is in one word ........RECRUITING...... Every team except South Florida out recruited us and that is all on the staff that we pay handsomely. Wichita had two bigs that would stand out for our team. Our guards can't shoot and we are too small inside. Haith's dismal recruiting has done him in even more than the mediocre coaching. 20 losses....at least this year. Worst since 2005.

He was the guy that made the match up zone work. He knew where everyone was suppose to be and directed them accordingly. Unfortunately every team knew the corner 3 was open and if they hit them we got beat.
The issue is definitely lack of talent. I have been criticized all year for my comments.
Recruiting is the failure of this basketball program.
In game coaching, although not stellar is OK and we have multiple wide open looks both inside and outside. Defense decent and certainly better than our record.
Does the school take any blame for this fiasco. How good would TU be if we just had the Weather boy’s at SMU? Do you think Frank had any chance of getting them into TU, a lower ranked academic school than SMU?
I know of three players in the last 2 years that were committed but failed the ‘academic standards of TU. Not trying to defend this staff but I am not sure all the blame goes to this staff. IMO
There are several great players out there that met TU's academic standards and we just failed in recruiting. We have just quit recruiting Tulsa area players during the Haith regime and there were several who had good academic standing who TU lost in recruiting or did not even recruit. Not sure Pritchard was even offered in the November he signed. Marcus King from Beggs, assistant coach at Tenn Tech knew about him and offered. We have failed on players from Memorial, Owasso, BTW, etc. A new coach always comes in with new recruiting enthusiasm especially one who is coming from the assistant ranks.
Hey, no dissing on Ronde. He goes to our church and is a great great guy. He's also a school resource office in my son's school and I always feel a bit better knowing he's there vs what could be there.

To me it hardly fits this criteria. Next thing you know they will stop letting us wear paper sacks over our heads for the Sunday game.
Seems like they don't like any criticism verbalized publicly. Maybe that's why Pooper Scooper was rather gentle and indirect. They might have made this view known to the World staff. Like that affects anybody's opinion. Keep your head in the sand.

So you like our recruiting. Good. Take a look at our national numbers in offense and defense. Not stellar on defense but much worse offensively. I watched countless wide open shots last night clank on the rim. Not even close. Others where fairly easy layups or floaters were missed badly. Offense is really bad at scoring. That’s the team we have.
Per Kenpom our defense is ranked worse than our offense and has been pretty much all year. We have gaps but we’re so poorly coached it’s absurd. It’s pretty difficult, even if we had a team full of lead footed Seneca Collins’, to be as bad at defending both 2 pointers and 3 pointers as we are.
43-19 , 43-19, 43-19 Does anything else need to be said about the state of things. Probably the worst rebounding drubbing in the history of American conference basketball......and by 9th ranked Wichita State at that.

Best poor coaching recruiting in Tulsa history John Phillips worst 20 + loss team would destroy Haiths team this year and hit a ton of 3 point shots and outrebound Haith and embarrass this team.
This current team is a little better but no one would want to see a game between the two.
