Who is Accountable?

Wartime tactics used against our own civilian population by an agency that should have no right to do so.


Regardless if you believe they were legally / morally right or wrong to do so, they didn't even have the competency to make sure their target was actually at the residence prior to blowing the door with explosive.

Many, many, many people should be fired for something like this.

My question is if he rammed into a federal agents vehicle intentionally, and they suspected him of this, then why didn't the federal agent demand he be taken to the police department and put in jail when the accident happened. They could have charged him with impeding a federal investigation at the jail, and held him on this count until it was resolved.

Unfortunately, there are multiple search warrants executed on wrong addresses, locations or people everyday. Law enforcement personnel are human and subject to human error. Now this incident is on the extreme side due to the use of explosives. Now this incident is on the extreme side due to the use of explosives. Do you believe the people who have been wronged don’t have a cause of action against the law enforcement agency in the wrong ?

Let's go down a list of things that are wrong here.

1. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is not the appropriate organization to police citizens domestically in the United States.
2. Immigration and Customs Enforcement should have absolutely no access to heavy weaponry, breaching charges, etc... as the purpose of its agency is not to act as a combat force, nor a paramilitary force. They are to reasonably arrest and detain aliens without permission to be in our country, and execute lawful search warrants with the cooperation of actual law enforcement (Police Forces, FBI, etc...) in the case where they need to apprehend criminal aliens or dangerous individuals running afoul of customs. This agency was never founded to conduct such exercises....ESPECIALLY against citizens, criminal or not. The fact that our current administration is using the agency in such a way is detestable from the bottom to the top and reminiscent of secret police agencies from every despotic regime history.
3. The severity of execution of search warrants should match the severity of the case and the suspect. Using explosives and long rifles, in a space with innocent bystanders, especially children is beyond the pale of excessive in this case.
4. Using explosives and long rifles without having attempted to apprehend the individual via a normal civil arrest is beyond the pale of excessive in all cases but those where the individual is thought to pose real physical harm to the police or bystanders. These agents had the chance to detain the individual peacefully previously and chose not to. They don't get to blow his doors down when he would have gone willingly (or even with some level of struggle) previously. They made no reasonable attempt to apprehend the individual in a civil manner.
5. Executing a peaceful / civil 'knock on the door type' search warrant at a wrong address due to a clerical error is one level of bad (maybe one person gets reprimanded / fired). Executing a search warrant that requires explosive breaching when the suspect isn't even at the residence (and you previously had the chance to detain him much more easily) is an entirely more severe screw up. Doing so with women and children present and not knowing enough about the family or the suspect to understand the appropriate course of action is a systematic screw up within the agency at large, and acts as further evidence that while they have the physical tools and resources necessary to carry out these sorts of activities (mostly because of excess funding from the current administration) they lack the proper organizational discipline to be trusted with those tools and responsibilities.
6. I have seen less severe domestic raids carried out to (successfully) apprehend rapists, murders, domestic terrorists, criminal drug lords, violent criminals etc... this was executed like they were cosplaying a military raid in a Fallujah. They do not get to turn our cities into warzones and any elected or appointed official authorizing or encouraging that behavior should be held accountable by the public. This is the entire reason we have civilian officers of the law. Let them do their job.
7. No warrant has yet been presented or alluded to for this action. Maybe they had one. There has been no mention of one to the public.... nor did the agents say when asked by the media that they were exercising one. Would be awfully nice to know that raids on the citizenry using hi caliber weapons and explosives actually were mandated by the courts.... especially when the agency carrying these out can clearly not be trusted to actually carry them out with any forethought or discipline.
8. The US government should pay out the ass (monetarily) to this lady and her children for emotional damages. They never will, because our legal code is often unjust when it comes to holding law enforcement officials to account.

I think everyone on that force and within a 5 mile vicinity of that house who knew such a raid was going on should be fired tomorrow as should their bosses all the way to top and whatever judge okayed such a warrant for this agency should be disbarred. If this kind of stuff keeps happening with zero repercussion you are going to seriously risk civil war.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
