Very true, I am hoping he improves dramatically over the summer, might be nice to go ahead and grab one though. Whatever path we choose, we need to have a qb ready to go
It'll be interesting to see what happens in longhornville between Beuchele and Ehrlinger. Beuchele may be the one to go but no way would they release him to play us. Just sayin.
Get a good graduate transfer and let the competition begin. Competition might make Skipper a better qb, and win the job anyway. If not then we have the GT. Win/Win(backup qb will be better to boot)
Why wouldn't Texas release their qb to play for us. They didn't have a problem releasing Kinne to us. They came and stole our offensive staff, the least they could do is let us have their leftover qb.
It'll be a good year to meet those teams, but who in the hell in their right mind would burden a football program with that type of out of conference scheduling. Their down now, but the likelihood of them being loaded when these games were scheduled was much greater. Cash strapped or not, I don't understand.....
There's two sure losses for the program. Texas is improving and even though the Hogs stink I would not bet one dollar on TU's chance of a upset. TU will be lucky to win six games next year.
Wonder if Arkansas will be sporting a new coach. It's going to be a little harder for Arkansas to hire a new coach without a long term AD on staff. I can see us having a chance if we get the QB lined out and they've got a new coach coaching Bielema's players. Might be just enough of an advantage to overcome the refs in fayetnam.

Now, the fact that we're going to finish with 2 wins this year certainly puts a damper on my enthusiasm for these games.
Kinne still had to sit out a year. A graduate transfer doesn't have to be released and doesn't have to sit out a year.
Arkansas will most assuredly be looking for a new coach. Bielema has worn his welcome out in Hog-ville. Do not be surprised if they make a run at Gus.
I wonder if John L Smith is still around? He coached the worst Razorback team probably ever, but they still beat us.
Yeah, I was thinking that when I remembered we play them next year, about 15 min after I posted that post. Maybe their ego, and our record this year might let them release him to us. We'll see if it even is an issue.
Don't be so sure. Auburn fans are fickle...if Gus loses to Alabama this weekend, the highest and most mighty of Auburn boosters will be calling for him to go. It's just like Georgia firing Mark Richt because he couldn't beat Florida. It's like some OSU fans calling for Gundy's head for not being able to beat OU more. It's like Lloyd Carr getting canned in Michigan because he couldn't beat Ohio State...and John Cooper getting fired at Ohio State for not beating Michigan. All those coaches won 9 games just about every freaking season and it's never good enough because they have inflated perceptions that they should never lose to their rival.
My guess is they'll gauge (if they already haven't reached out to his agent) Gus' interest and if he isn't interested, they'll move on to Norvell so they can recirculate his Central Arkansas corn-rows picture.
No, they'll be playing with slow plodding OL not built to play 90 snaps a game. Honestly, Bielema probably should be coaching OL in the NFL. He would also probably do well at Nebraska playing the grind it out style the B1G likes to play.
If you could pull them out of your hat for next year when making the schedule several years ago it would be brilliant, but otherwise that had to have looked like a couple of really challenging game when they were scheduled. Assuming it was a payday thing...

It was the going to Arkansas thing I was talking about, not the leaving of Auburn thingy.
After watching the Texas vs Texas Tech game, I like our chances in Austin way more than Arkansas
