If it goes to the convention, look for it to go to an open nomination and an Obama or Clinton to be drafted....
Bernie’s people will burn it down should that occur.
Yes, but No. In modern times the primaries produce a winner and the convention is a formality. This year there are no Super Delegates in the first ballot. But if doesn't get a majority in the first round, then the Supers are each given a can of spinach and their muscles bulge. You are welcome.Isnt that the purpose of the convention?
Humphrey got the nomination in 1968 without competing in the primaries. Things were a lot different then. He was running for president the whole way, but declined to participate in the primaries. There were only about 13 of them and with LBJ's political clout behind him, he got his delegates from the other states. Not really relevant to today, but a reminder that it wasn't that long ago that primaries were not a big deal.Even in a brokered convention, I can’t see the Dems elected a candidate who hasn’t won a single state. They would be much more likely to nominate someone who didn’t run than someone who did and failed on such a large scale.
