Given the train wreck that was our football season this team has some cover if they dont do well at the beginning of the season. This is another year where we have to win the conference tournament to make the dance

I’m definitely frustrated with this... this is a game you need to win if you want any hope of an at large. We should win this type of game.

I have no idea what to expect this coming week, but I’m not as positive about it as I was before this game.

Is it frustrating? Of course. But we aren’t going to shoot that poorly at home and we all get some calls. Take care of business at home and I’m happy. Today has zero bearing on this week, it’s game to game and matchup to matchup.

At large is not dead.

Whether at large is dead is irrelevant. The problem isn’t will we make post season, the problem is we’re just an average team right now. If at large isn’t dead yet it will be soon unless we find a way to transform this team. Every vaguely decent team we’ve played we’ve lost to. That’s a sign of who we are. We either need someone to step up and become a star or we need to find a way to make 2+2+2 = 12.

It’s a make or miss game. Relying on unproven new guys to be makers is risky. Etou and Henderson made a lot of important shots. Today Horne showed promise so maybe he is coming on, but Jeffries looked like that on Tuesday.

What sucks is Mr. Coley never disappeared in any game I can remember. What sucks even more is DaQuan is the closest thing we’ve had since. And I’m not sure he knows to punch that steer 24/7 like Coach Self gave my namesake the freedom to do.

Lil Eric.....Don't put any of our current players close to the EC class..... When you can lead the nation in steals and land Tulsa's only triple double......then compare........ Ask Hollywood who his toughest player of all time was... lol !

More people here need to watch more d1 games from low majors on up

Study the stats

Keep up w recruiting rankings and who is signing who

When do these things you’ll be operating w more reality

It is sobering how sub mediocre Tulsa is

What I am just now realizing... and even more depressing... Haith’s best players are not improving much

Igbanu and Joiner are good players that should be putting up video game stats and that ain’t happening—- thIs is telling me that Haith is not giving it all he can or is sorely the wrong guy

All fan bases overvalue their recruits. Beating a dead horse here but we need to recruit better. The top teams in the AAC are signing top 150 players. We need to occasionally sign these types instead of hoping a 3* player develops into an all-conference player.

I believe OU and OSU both signed three top 150 national players in their last class. OU has a non-charismatic 66 year old coach and OSU’s coach has zero track record. We should be able to compete with them. Not sure why we got away from recruiting the state of Texas but I wish we would put more effort there. I don’t believe Haith has signed a high school player out of Texas in five years.

We are supposed to complete with Memphis. And they go and get a top 5 recruiting class after firing Tubby, who was their Wojcik.

Because they hired a local legend AAU coach basically. From what I’ve seen he really can’t coach for crap.

I no longer worry about Memphis being a powerhouse, because they are not coached a lick.

Agree by and large.

I will add that Haith teams always seem to start the season frustratingly slow. Add in that we are a young team, and young inexperienced teams often play to the level of the competition. That makes for a weird combo of surprise wins and ugly losses.

Here's hoping they gel sooner rather than later. I don't think Haith is a bad coach, but he does seem to have trouble with this every year.

I think it’s a mix of guys coming off redshirt combined with mixing and matching the pieces. I think you will see us start to gel quicker and really rip off a winning streak coming up.

Some people are negative only when it's justified. Others are negative all the time. If you're not aware of which one you are, you probably fall in the second category.
Think you need to go back and read all my post. I have been very positive many times in the basketball area. I do tend to get critical, (would not call that negative) earlier than most. However, many times I turn out to just be the first . Just go back and look at my preseason post. I was the most optimistic of just about any of the regular posters. I wish I had been correct. I just find it odd when so many of you criticize a poster when being critical but have no problem when you decide to be negative.
Even now I defend our coaching, (maybe you ignored that post), while you get overly critical.

You don't have to coach if you have 5 top 30 players. Just roll out the ball and they will go 25-5 with no coaching. Recruiting is about 70 % of the game now. The National Champions combine recruiting with great coaching.

This is somewhat true. You can also over coach teams that have a ton of talent and that will actually drag them down. Buzz Peterson did this in 2000-2001. Wojcik, IMO, is an example of over-coaching. One of the best things I've seen in youth soccer is a coach on the sidelines telling his players he wasn't going to say anything for the next 5 minutes and they would need to figure it out. You've got to trust players and not micro-manage every aspect. I think you can see it in football as well with the play-calling. I'd love to see Monty let the QB have a series calling the play at the line and just trust what he sees. The players on the court or field have the best feel for what's actually happening. They have more of a sense of who's tired, who's doubting themselves, who's struggling to fit into the flow of the game a whole lot more than a coach can standing on the sidelines.
