Report: Texas to visit Tulsa OT commit Waahid Muhammad

Even with the addition of 2016 Under Armour All-American offensive tackle Jean Delance, new Texas Longhorns offensive line coach Matt Mattox will visit a familiar face in the coming days -- Waco La Vega offensive tackle Waahid Muhammad.

Committed to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane since August, Muhammad was recruited Mattox at his former stop and could fill a significant need in the Texas class because the Longhorns have missed on numerous other offensive tackle targets in the 2016 class.

The 6'6, 285-pounder is a consensus three-star prospect ranked as the No. 1984 player overall, the No. 165 offensive tackle, and the No. 237 player in the state of Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Other schools to offer Muhammad include Navy and Texas State.

However, despite the low rankings and modest offer list, Muhammad has significant upside -- he's a former basketball player who gave up the game after his sophomore season and switched schools to become a star at La Vega on the gridiron after acclimating to his new sport.

As a result, he's a raw player who will need intensive work on developing the strength and technique necessary to contribute at the college level, but if the Longhorns offer and flip Muhammad and he ends up fulfilling his upside, he could become quite a find for Mattox and Texas.
