Some kids make it out of bad environments and some don't. Kids like this need a great support group. Coach Ollie figured out he'd be more trouble than he is worth and didn't want to take the risk in straightening him out.
I've been there. Sometimes it a fine line and you have to make a judgement "gut feeling" call. Other times as much as you'd love to give a recruit a chance, the risk to your reputation and that of your school is just too great.
