Quite a difference in years. Last year this board was full of jokes about our big game with Bye. This year we are 2-1 with only a loss to a Top 15 team. There is a new spirit around and a new confidence in the coaching staff. The offense has shown a good deal of spark with Evans connecting on some long pass and the coach allowing him to try. Some teaching has gone on there. While our defense is still not our strongest area, there is much more of an ability to make a needed stand, even against a top notch offense.

This year Bye is an opportunity to heal some injuries and a week when we know coaches will be working on some things that need improving. What a difference.

Agree! This staff is doing a great job thus far getting the players ready for game day! They also have installed a never give up attitude that comes from the staff and shows in the players on field performance. Coach Hurricane Monty and his staff are just what this program needed to bring new life to the Golden Hurricane program.

I'll hate not having a game this weekend but the timing is perfect. As you say, a lot learned over the first 3 weeks, a lot of chance to develop from it with the extra week.

How are our injured defensive players doing? Were their injuries serious? Will they play vs Houston? Inquiring minds need to know.

I can only answer about Jeremy Smith. He had a high ankle sprain and should be ready for Houston. Swelling was going last week.

He is certainly a key injury as all are, but he is missed along with Suits. I don't recall but it seems like we lost another key defensive player in the first drive?

Luckily our defense should have no trouble this week. Worried about the offense. There's no tape on bye so how do we get ready for them?

Also, I expect the refs will blow at least a dozen calls and we will wonder if they are even watching the game. And I can assure you the scoreboard people will get the down and yardage wrong repeatedly. Also, there will be at least six posts complaining about parking.

It looked like he pulled up lame on the right leg. Not sure what kind of injury he sustained.
