Tulsa’s Tyler Smith Named to FWAA Freshman All-America Watch List
TULSA, Okla. –– University of Tulsa red-shirt freshman offensive lineman Tyler Smith was named to the FWAA Freshman All-America Watch List, the Football Writers Association of America announced today.
Smith, a 6’5”, 322-pounder from Fort Worth, Texas, is Tulsa’s starting left tackle. Smith red-shirted in 2019, but did play in four games, including starting assignments in Tulsa’s wins against UCF and East Carolina.
In Tulsa’s first two games of 2020, Smith has played every offensive snap in games against two No. 11-ranked teams Oklahoma State and UCF.
Smith is one of 10 redshirt or true freshmen offensive lineman named to the FWAA’s All-America Watch List.
This year’s FWAA Freshman All-American team will represent the 20th since its inception and feature a list of 7 semifinalists and 3 finalists later this season leading up to the unveil of the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year.
