Tulsa +14.5

we used to beat OSU regularly even during losing seasons.

Time to restart that tradition.

Counting games played in the last half of the 20th Century and this Century, the two teams have played 41 times with one tie game in 1956 at Tulsa.

OSU has won 30
Tulsa has won 10

TU has not won a game at OSU since 1951, almost 70 years.

Isn't 1951 6 years after OSU's fake national championship?

In 1945, the aggies beat only two teams with winning records. One of those two was Tulsa.

I had to go to the archives for this one. Tulsa finished the season ranked #17, losing only to #4 Indiana, #5 OSU and #18 Georgia.

OSU was retroactively named champion by the American Football Coaches Association in 2016. They didn’t have a coaches poll back then. Army was AP champ.

Proof is in the pudding that when you have an administration, donors, and university community that invests time, money, and effort into athletics, major change can happen.

At one point OSU wasn’t much ahead (if at all) of TU in regard to overall athletic program... look at what one huge donor was able to accomplish with the backing of the university.

When a single donor gives millions upon millions it changes everything. Also happened at K-State. Proof you can buy wins and change the culture.

Can I hope that Montgomery has kept the O super simple the 1st two weeks - knowing that we had no shot against Michigan St. and could simply overpower SJ St. with base stuff? And now he is going to unleash Smith and have him throw it all over the yard? Lie to me if you need to.
It won't be a lie, Monty's no pushover like a lot of you think!
Just you wait and see what's going to happen soon! He and his guys will bust loose and when they do, it will be no stopping them! We will be really proud when they get a bowl game and who knows they just might win it!

We are not playing at OSU.

I started paying attention in the 1970s and remember several home victories.

We are 5-11 in the post Reagan era. One of those years, OSU went O-fer.

In fact, since our last road win in 1951, we have only beaten OSU twice in Tulsa when OSU finished the season with a winning record: 1958 and 1986 (which was a heckuva game).

Technically the Pokes were 0-10-1 in 1991 and lost 13-7 to TU in Tulsa to open the season. Tied Iowa State. Lost to a ranked ou 21-6. Effects of probation were just beginning. Went 9 straight years without a winning season after Barry Sanders' Heisman year of 1988.

Lost to TU in 1995 (24-23), which I believe was the Troy DeGar led comeback which included a skipped pass off an OSU LB hitting TU wideout Michael Kedzior (sp?) in stride for a long TD.

The most recent three games in the series saw OSU score 65, 59 and 59, in Stillwater, Tulsa and Stillwater, respectively. No astute observer thinks the Cowboys will begin to approach posting that much offense this year.

No astute poster thinks TU will give up that many points this year.

The 24-23 win was one of the greatest games I have ever attended simply because of all the orange clad crying at the end of the game. Rader's strategy to kick the onside kick after the 1st TD was masterful because OSU was sleeping for it.

The key to that comeback was throwing to whoever RW McQuarters was covering. He turned out to be pretty good, but he was a lost freshman that night.

People mention names of the past and it seems just like yesterday that they finished playing in college and it's been 23 freaking years

there are apparently a ton of morons in Tulsa and surrounding areas. Just look at the comments about the game on TUs Facebook posts about tickets for this weekend.

Always thought he was over-rated as college DB. Several games (I can vividly recall a triple overtime loss to Missouri) where RW late in the game was trying to bait the Mizzou QB into passing deep to a wide receiver.....only to misjudge the ball's trajectory that ended up going for a TD). McQuarters was an excellent kick return guy and even played WR some at OSU.

I hope you are right. But why then did wait five years to do it?

Have to agree with this....why so long? Why was it so hard fro him to find the QB he needed to run the offense correctly? We sort of lucked into the defense by grabbing guys that went under the radar who are just pure studs.

U guys that think Monty has a whole new awesome offense that he's been waiting 4 years to show the world against an unranked football team...are delusional. He still needs to be fired and he'll prove it again this week.

Wow. Is Monty off my hot seat yet? No. But take a break from pissing in everyone’s cheerios when our team actually improved from week 1. Remember how we almost lost to an fcs week one last year? Yea, we aren’t that team.

TU had Dane Evans in 2015 and 2016 and he was great QB for Tulsa .

With a real QB Monty has been just fine. Some people just have a problem with some people for odd reasons (again, he’s not off my hot seat, just don’t see a real reason to piss and moan YET)
I think the problem people have is he had 2 years to ID and bring in Dane's replacement and didn't get anyone he found satisfactory so we ended up with the play-calling pattern of "run up the middle, run up the middle, desperation heave, punt" the last 2 years. He was responsible for not evaluation properly, not recruiting the right QBs, or not developing the QBs or any combo of the 3. In 2 years after Dane left we had a QB throw for over 200 yds like 7 times in 24 games. Not great for an offense that is perceived as a run n gun type of offense.

All of a sudden his play calling and rhythm changes because he has "his guy" even though President, Skipper, and Boomer were all recruited by him and his staff.
We'll see what play caller shows up this week. If I'm Monty, if TU wins the toss, take the damn ball and ram it down OkState's throat on Saturday. Don't defer. Take the ball, show confidence in your offense, and go.

President was supposed to be the heir apparent. I think Monty's biggest mistake is thinking that he could teach President to throw the ball as well as he ran the ball...

Monty wanted another RG3.... and he couldn't pull it off. I think we might have another Dane Evans instead though, so that's a plus.

Smith is more like Bryce Petty. He definitely has some nice arm strength and the concerns about his accuracy are a little off. He did have some iffy throws in the MSU game throwing behind WRs just a touch but the timing of both QB and WRs was off just a bit due to the speed of the pass rush. I thought last week vs SJSU was about as good a QB performance we have had since Dane left. Throws on time, throws to tight spaces. Only 1 or 2 throws that were off (a bit high on a couple). The throw to Stokes on the right sideline in between 3 defenders was a thing of beauty and I also really liked the 2 throws to the TE (1 for the TD, and the other on the TE skinny post/seam route). And it wasn't only hitting the WRs in good places, it was delivering the ball on time to give the WRs a chance for some yards after the catch.
