TULSA, Okla. āā Seven bowl teams and three top-20 teams from the 2021 season, including the SEC's Ole Miss Rebels, BCS semifinalist Cincinnati and 17th-ranked Houston, highlight Tulsa's football schedule in 2022, it was announced today.
Two conference champions are among the first three home opponents for Tulsa as MAC Champion Northern Illinois is the home opener and American Athletic Conference Champion and No. 4-ranked Cincinnati kicks off the league slate.
"It's another tough schedule for us with three nationally-ranked teams ā No. 4 Cincinnati, No. 8 Ole Miss and No. 17 Houston," said Montgomery. "Our fans should be excited about our home schedule with the opportunity to play the MAC Champion Northern Illinois and getting Cincinnati at Chapman Stadium."
Tulsa opens the season at Mountain West Conference foe Wyoming on Saturday, Sept. 3. The Cowboys finished the 2021 campaign with a 7-6 record after a 52-13 win in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
Tulsa comes home to H.A. Chapman Stadium for two consecutive games. For the first time ever, Northern Illinois and Tulsa will meet on the gridiron. The Huskies kickoff Tulsa's six-game home schedule on Sept. 10. NIU finished with an overall 9-5 mark and winners of the MAC Championship a year ago.
A week later, Jacksonville State visits the Hurricane on Sept. 17, also for the first-ever meeting. The Gamecocks claimed its biggest win in school history last year with a 20-17 victory over perennial powerhouse Florida State.
"One thing that has been certain, especially over the last few seasons, is that our fans have seen a lot of exciting games that have gone down to the wire at Chapman Stadium. SMU, Tulane and South Florida will join Cincinnati as our conference home opponents, and those games have kept our fans' enthusiasm to the end," added Montgomery.
The Hurricane will close out the non-conference portion of its schedule against the Mississippi Rebels on Sept. 24. Ole Miss finished the 2021 season with a 10-3 record and ranked 8th in the final Associated Press poll.

The last two meetings have gone down to the last seconds of the game. Cincinnati defeated Tulsa in the 2020 AAC Football Championship Game on a field goal as time expired and last year's regular season meeting ended on the game's last series with the Bearcats pulling out a 28-20 victory.
Tulsa will have only a week to prepare for Navy's option attack as Tulsa travels to Annapolis on Oct. 8 to take on the Midshipmen. The last time Tulsa visited Navy resulted in a 19-6 Hurricane victory in the 2020 campaign.
After a bye week, Tulsa goes back east for its fourth road game of the season to face the Temple Owls in Philadelphia on Friday night, Oct. 21. Tulsa took down the Owls last year with a 44-10 home win.
Tulsa returns to Chapman Stadium for consecutive homes games, ending the month of October and beginning November.

Tulsa and Tulane have been embattled in overtime contests in each of the last two seasons with the Hurricane claiming a come-from-behind 30-24 home win in 2020 and holding off a Green Wave comeback last year with a 20-13 victory in New Orleans.
Tulsa's next two games will be weeknight matchups as the Hurricane travels to Memphis for a Thursday night, Nov. 10, contest against the Tigers. A week later Tulsa returns home for the season finale against South Florida on Friday, Nov. 18. This will be the third meeting in Tulsa as the other two home games came in 2014 and 2018.
Tulsa closes out the regular season on the road against the Houston Cougars. The game will be played the weekend of Nov. 25/26, either Friday or Saturday. The exact day is expected to be announced during the first week of October.
The Cougars closed out the 2021 season at 12-2 overall including a win over Auburn in the Birmingham Bowl and ranked 17th nationally.

Fans who renew or purchase season tickets by May 6 will have an opportunity to host a party of eight in the Athletic Director's Suite for a home game.
The Mazzio's Family Fun Zone Ticket Plan includes two tickets (one adult and one child) priced at $100. Additional youth tickets (12 & under) are $25, and additional adult tickets are priced at $75.
End Zone and Sectional Seating (Sections 102, 103) are priced at $75 and breaks down to only $12.50 per game for the 2022 campaign.
Blue Zone season tickets (bench seats on east and west sides) are priced at $150, and Gold Zone season packages on the east and west sides (Sections 104, 105, 116, 119) are priced at $210. Platinum level season tickets, located on the west side and priced at $270, and Loge Seats, priced at $330, are still available.
