TU - Oregon St Game Thread

Do we lead the nation in double digit leads given up? WTF?
Great game plans coming in, Wojcik adjustments after half... Meaning none...

Tulsa has great athletes.

We have 1-2 actual BB players.

NIT if we get some breaks in conference.

Another frustrated winnable loss that was lost by poor free throws and poor three point shooting game.

Harrison does not know how to play the game. We're down 6 and he is driving the lane and padding his stats when we need threes. He never even looks to pass.

Shaquille Harrison at the line .....MONEY!!
Oops another dream ....way to piss down your leg with the game in balance.
Tired of watching him choke

We make freshman like decisions when at crunch time.

I know we are what we are in terms of talent but it doesn't get any less frustrating.

We'll ride the bubble like we've done the majority of our good years so I still have hope...

Well more disappointment and lack of year over year improvement.

I have watched the whole game on the PAC-12 network and it's driving me nuts. Honestly, I thought we would get blown out in this game so a 6 to 10 point loss is better than I expected. I can't say if we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory or the Beaver's just decided to play in the second half. I didn't see Tapplin in the second half much, maybe that was it...

I expected more from this team this year. Next year we might look like a High School team.

How does Woodard, a senior, not know where he is on the court and catch the ball out of bounds? 10 missed free throws, but how many of them were the front of a 1 and 1?

bad loss. Really related to 1st half where we should of had a big lead. Pat birt remains the key to this team which I have said in the board from game one. He must get us points and going 2/9 we will have trouble winning.
Yep it is a damned shame. Hard to overcome that.[/QUO

Tulsa lost because it plays :crap:ty perimeter defense and it can't make wide open 15 foot shots with no time expiring and no body in front of them --- and without any real time constraint to worry about --- 80% of the time.

NO TEAM SHOULD WIN ANY GAME WHEN IT SHOOTS 63% FROM THE FOUL LINE AND ALLOWING TEAMS TO STROKE IT FROM DOWNTOWN WITHOUT PROPER CLOSE OUTS.

Oh.... and Deandre Wright should never ever take a 3 point shot --- just turn it down young man. It ain't happening.

This is a game we should've won. Oregon State is not that good. They had some big home court ref calls in the 2nd half of this "neutral" court game.

We continue to play tight late in games, as we did last year. I am surprised when we finish a game well. You can't continue to miss so many FTs & give up so many offensive rebounds & win big games.

So just going to throw this out there don't kill me for saying this but maybe Frank Haith is not as good of a coach as we thought

No, these seniors are not as good as they were two years ago. He came from a SEC team, he's good.

Wait till he gets all his guys in here.

I'm not a fan of Haith. I don't think he can coach and he has yet to prove he can make any adjustments. The four out one in motion he runs is dependent on outside shooters and we are lacking in that area.
Birt is as advertised. A high volume streaky shooter who can win and lose you games. He might develop in a year or two but the only thing he gives us now is someone who will jack it up. Not down on the kid, he's a freshman.
Haith has been successful in the past with several shooters on his teams. He has yet to recruit those to Tulsa and we are exposed.
I agree with those that feel our only chance right now is to press, go uptempo, and learn how to run motion and actually set picks.

Coach ? It does not not matter which style these players are running. This team is below average at the foul line and has way too many scoring droughts. They do not. Maintain or build leads and cannot win comfortably. Unless this bunch can rally and. Somehow find some pixie dust they will not even sniff the NCAA TOURNAMENT.

Hmmm.. 2 questions...

Why would a good SEC coach leave the multiple bid SEC for the 2 bid AAC ( especially the smallest most academically challenged member?)

And..

Did he actually recruit and coach a Senior class into Mizzou? Considering that his in conference record declined each year, I am inclined to think that his senior class was not special.

He has a history of recruiting McDonald's all Americans as an assistant coach but other than Miami, I don't think he has stayed long enough to see them become seniors. He has 8 or 9 holes to fill. NLOI day will be interesting.

He won big with Quinn Snyder's guys. Each year he incorporated his own guys they got progressively worse.

Mike Anderson. He's a TU alum. Didn't go to Wichita State, either.

As Gold said, Haith won his first year at Missouri with Mike Anderson players.

Noble, that's funny that you responded in that way. I have been criticized by some on this board since the day Haith was hired, when I expreseed my concerns with Haith at Missouri.

My response to Tbunch1103 was just for fun.

In all sincerity, I hope Haith and the team get on a good win streak and make the NCAA tournament by winning the AAC tournament or as a selection team.

Still a lot of basketball to be played and we can still reach the goals the team and fans have.
