New Tulsa head coach Tre Lamb and his assistant coaches have quickly proven three things when it comes to recruiting.

1. They are aggressively pursuing in-state talent.

2. They aren’t afraid of recruiting the highest-rated prospects in the region.

3. They are routinely beating multiple Power Four schools for commitments.

Prime examples are recent verbal pledges from Tulsa (OK) Union defensive back Daijon Gaines and Houston (TX) Elsik linebacker Reilarean ā€˜Speed’ Phillips. Both have numerous P4 offers, and both committed to Tulsa this week after taking official visits to the TU campus.

This coaching staff can flat out recruit. How many come in ready to play right away and how many leave after year 1 for more NIL? And we can offer a more realistic chance at playing right away than a P4 who focus on the portal and bringing in starter level players already FBS proven.

The next question is, how long can we keep Lamb b/c he's already proven he can sell his program and some P4 is going to come sooner than later.

3-4 years if he does good would be my guess

I hope we are able to keep him that long.
Kragthorpe completely brought the program out of the dead had 3 winning seasons of the 4 years he was here and a conference championship. Graham had 3 seasons of 10 or more wins out of the 4 he was here with back to back conference championship appearances so I'm just going off that. He's not going to leave for another g5 gig his next stop is p4.

Those guys are both good warnings for Tre. Both of their career pinnacles were at TU. Sure, they made more $$ elsewhere but never achieved really. Sometimes the green on the other side of the fence is thorns, not grass.

Kragthorpe yes, Graham had a pretty good stint at asu
He had a couple of good but not great teams at ASU. If you asked "do you think this team was successful" the answer would be yes for several of his TU teams but at best "almost" at his other places. I wonder if he was happier being "almost good enough" at ASU than he was being "good" at TU?

Like other coaches that have had success here, if he were to stay and not pursue the first job that comes along, Lamb could be mayor of this town.
And no, not in a Crossfire kind of way. lol
1000X this. Plus his chance of long-term success is higher being a big fish in a medium sized pond, if he can get by on only $2m per year salary.....

Tho maybe it's better to burn out than to fade away... ?
