I am shocked this staff is not playing TK more. He is very talented and has a lot of upside. I find it rediculous that age is such a determining factor for play time. With the portal now in play that philosphy is a good way to lose talent! I am afraid we will see it with this staff.

Monty's game plan only ever calls for 2 RBs to rotate and a 3rd or 4th only get in if it's a blowout or one of the RBs gets hurt. Heck, we haven't even seen much of Taylor at all this season. maybe 2-3 series in the Wyoming game but it seems to be a heavy dose of Brooks and trying to get him killed. Again, in certain down and yardage situations, TK should be the guy back there. Any time it is a short yardage to gain situation, TK is the one most capable of moving the chains. He also is better at getting to the edge because you really can't arm tackle him.

I don't understand TK's lack of carries either. Monty's such a hard head. He sticks with what his "gut" tells him to the possible detriment of other players success. That goes for our 6'5", 275 lb. tight end who has had nothing thrown to him since San Joser St.

He's had a couple of catches, both for very short yardage (I think 1 each vs OSU and Wyoming).

But, TK- 2 situations in the OSU game where he needed to be used and at least 1 situation in the Wyoming and both times we ended up not moving the pile or picking up the 1st down

@Chris Harmon why is the running back coach not playing Wilkerson?

Our TE stay to help block on max protection. My question is after he secured the block have him release into the field as a delay release. The LB are bailing out to get into the passing lanes leaving the TE. He can get near 10 yards before he encounter a defender.

I know we love to overreact on this board, but I’d like to point out that the sample size is still really small this season. We’re talking about three games of data with actual runs. There’s still plenty of time to see TK. Also, he’s getting quite a bit of playing time if anyone wants to pay attention to the all-important special teams. Regardless, I think he’ll see quite a bit more playing time this year. It might just be me, but a close game like that where you know Shamari has the hot hand doesn’t seem like the right time to put in a new running back, especially if they’re the least experienced pass blocker. It’s not like he’s being benched for unproductive players. We’re talking about one of the most talented positions on the team, but anything can happen at any moment. Stay calm and let’s have some actual fun.

The optimist in me says that Monty played the upperclassmen against the P5 opponents to get them film for the pro scouts. As we get into conference season, they will wear down and Wilkerson will get more snaps. That’s been the trend the last few seasons.

We have 3 good running back. Brooks and Taylor are the bell cow's of this offense. We have a big fast thumper that can change opponents defense. The linebacker play closer to the line of scrimmage. The safety get closer or in the box. That mean TE seam routes and pop pass along with slants and slant and go.

Crazy thought: maybe the upperclassmen are playing because they're better overall players than TK at this stage of their careers.

Maybe the sample size on TK is small, but Monty's is not and he simply leans on 2 backs without regard to situation and that's the issue I have. Everyone knows Monty prefers to run the ball in short yardage situations so the box is loaded. Our OL (especially this year) is struggling to push the LOS a yard downfield. Brooks is not the physical bruising back that can move the pile by himself. All of these factors, IMO, should mean TK gets those situational carries.

TK should be getting some touches at least 7 carries per game. Pistol set with 2 TE then Monty can call play action.

Why is it so hard to figure out?
1. We need two yards
2. EVERYONE KNOWS WE ARE RUNNING
3. The box is loaded
4. Our OL has trouble moving DL
5. We have a strong 230lb back with short legs and a long torso who hits the hole hard and can consitently move the first guy to touch him backwards
