The next 100 days

You’ve gone to great lengths in the past to defend your communist friends but suggesting the FBI and DOJ are working together to frame Chinese nationals is a step beyond where you’ve gone in the past. Assume you assume the massive intellectual property theft by the Chinese government over the past several decades is a conspiracy theory as well?

Intellectual property attorneys have known this for decades. What has happened wis that Chinese companies buy and build a licensed process for a refinery or chemical manufacturing facility and then clone it many times on their own, avoiding paying licensing fees for the additional facilities built.

As for people illegally here, apparently there’s a high profile one now.

That’s not what is happening or at least what is being discussed here. China is stealing (not buying) intellectual property in almost every area from defense to bio engineering. They are doing this through spies stealing files or via hacking into computer systems . Legally paying companies for a design to a chemical manufacturing company is not illegal. Stealing that same design is the issue here. Stealing top secret defense technology is even more destructive.

They copied that first design of proprietary technology that required licensing over and over and didn’t pay for it. I would call that stealing.

That is why some companies will no longer license new processes in China.

This is pretty funny. Everybody, and I mean everybody predicted this finale between Trump and Musk. Everybody knew those two would implode. How bout they take the rest of the South Africans back too. What was there 59 of them that Trump took in. Did he adopt them yet? So Trusk/Mump lasted what, less than 4 1/2 mo. I figured it would blow between 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 mo. So they went a little longer than I thought they would.

No one with any type of ego will last with Trump. This was predictable….as you said.

Even if you don't have a real ego you have to eat what you call your ego. Only yes men survive. Regrettably Steven Miller has been there from the start, and will probably be there till the bitter end. He convinces Trump that all of his ideas are Trump's ideas. He's one devious MF. He's a trumparionette operator.

No, but I doubt they wanted Mexico to return this guy either. Essentially I think they feel like a good latino is one that is in another country.

That situation doesn't seem much different if any different than the one with Garcia. They initially admitted they had made a mistake with Garcia, but he never was brought back.
Appears we kept Garcia in Salvador until he could be indicted on human trafficking charges and thus jailed here in the states on those charges.

You can't convince me that they wouldn't have used this to combat the public outcry at the time that they admitted the mistake in deporting him. If they really had started an investigation, why wouldn't they have brought that out immediately? They apparently manufactured his ties to MS-13 instead.

They could have just stated that the mistake was made to deport him, but before deciding on whether to bring him back they wanted to determine how and where to bring him back to, with possible charges against him. I think this investigation happened way after he was deported, or became known to them from another investigation that found links to him, long after he was deported. Otherwise, why would they have been so stupid as to use that false MS-13 excuse?

I can't buy them waiting to mention it until now. This administration doesn't keep stuff like that in the bag even when it might behoove them to do so.

Read the indictment. There’s little chance that they began the investigation AND presented the case to a grand jury AND got an indictment since he was deported imo. I believe they kept him in Salvador because they didn’t want to release him in the states and risk flight. With his associates being arrested there’s is no chance he didn’t know he was being investigated.

Some of the allegations:

It is alleged this defendant is part of the same smuggling ring responsible for the death of more than 50 immigrants in 2021 after the tractor-trailer overturned in Mexico — this is part of that same ring. The defendant, abused undocumented, alien females, according to co-conspirators, who were under his control while transporting them throughout our country.

"This defendant trafficked firearms and narcotics throughout our country on multiple occasions. They were using vehicles — SUVs — with added seats in the back, floors that had been ripped out — guns, narcotics, children, women, MS-13 members — that is what the grand jury found. A co-conspirator alleged that the defendant solicited nude photographs and videos of a minor. A co-conspirator also alleges the defendant played a role in the murder of a rival gang member's mother."

Again….no chance this investigation was started after his deportation

I figured they probably didn't just start this investigation after his deportation. That's why I said they could have found links to him in an ongoing investigation after he was deported. It's possible they could have not wanted to reveal the investigation because of others involved, and it blowing up part of the investigation at the time. But it doesn't seem like they are saying that.

They certainly didn't need to be worried about Garcia Abrego, since he was locked up in prison as far as releasing the info about the investigation. I would think they would make the fact that they didn't want to reveal the investigation until it was finished obvious. It certainly would have freed up much of their responsibility for leaving him there.

The lawyers involved with this also could have had a private meeting with Judge Xinis, who ordered them to bring him back, or a private meeting with the supreme court that upheld this order. As far as I know this didn't happen. So they didn't even reveal it to the courts. Many things about how this was handled by the administration just are not right.

Various new outlets mostly tied to ABC said the case was launched in April '25 and got a verdict on May 21 from the Grand Jury and it was unsealed on June 6. They didn't go into any detail on what they meant by launched. I don't believe they started the investigation then, but it still could be a rushed investigation that was put together that quickly. They looked at a '22 traffic stop and expanded from there. Take from that what you will. That could have given a team 6 or 7 weeks to get evidence together for the grand jury and get an expedited grand jury date.

There’s zero chance the investigation was started in April. To many individuals and details over a period of years. I can understand why they rushed it to a grand jury. If Garcia would have gotten released he would have disappeared across the border. He doesn’t sound like a guy who needs to be roaming around.

I’m not sure why we’re sending some of these illegals to a prison. Any thoughts there? Do we have investigations and pending charges against them similar to Garcia.

Likely because the Salvadoran government offered to house US deportees and citizens who committed crimes for a fee. Whether we have potential cases against that many deportees is anybody's guess. Abrego Garcia wasn't getting released until we quit paying that fee.

A small percentage are being sent there. No clue as to the criteria being used. Can’t imagine there are 238 deportees who are gang members or under investigation for crimes but who knows. Never dreamed Garcia would be indicted under these type of charges

They have hit 50% on people that they accidentally deported and got found out on. But Garcia was the only one sent to prison. The other guy was sent to Mexico, despite the fact that he was Guatemalan. So far they are batting 1000 on deportees that were mistakenly sent to prison that they could find charges worth putting before a jury. We'll see whether their batting percentage comes way down when they do or don't bring charges against the others.

My guess is this will be one of the few cases that will be brought against any of those detainees sent to CECOT. They will likely not take the chance that too many of those court cases fail to get convictions in court. I suspect they will only bring the slam dunk cases to court, that they know they will automatically win. I bet there aren't that many cases like that.

I'm betting that even hitting 38 on those type of cases is wishful thinking. Which means that 200+ individuals will spend several years in places like CECOT whether they did anything or not. You never know though, they might have 100 cases ready to go. I just find it hard to believe that the one that they got caught accidentally sending to prison had a case that was that close to fruition. I mean that close to court ready when I say fruition.

Maybe they got lucky, or maybe there is a lot of cases close to court ready. Well see over the next 6 or 8 months which of those two things is true.

Intellectual property attorneys have known this for decades.
Certainly since the 1980's when the China market began to open up. Major international law firms such as Graham and James and Coudert Bothers were already advising clients about the risks and how to mitigate them, but the allure of a huge, untapped market outweighed IP risk considerations. Everyone knew it would happen. In most of Asia at the time (and maybe now) there is no legal system for enforcement. For example, Microsoft and others knew their software was being pirated all over Asia but continued to do business in Taiwan, China, Indonesia; all hot beds of IP violations.
Companies willingly took the risk because the market opportunity was huge, especially for huge, capital projects, particularly in the 80s when interest rates were in the teens.
The book, Chip Wars, details how IP is being protected for the most powerful chips and it's not the legal system rather controls over key components and export controls that are being used.
It's easy to blame China now, but relationship between China and the west has been fraught for several centuries. This is the latest chapter.

“It’s easy to blame China now”? China has dispatched spies to the US for decades who have stolen vast amount of our intellectual property. Yet it’s now easy to blame them. WTH I’m becoming more and more convinced you’re a troll when it comes to all things China.

If the US was so worried about China, what did we give them the lead in electric cars, battery technology, solar power, and now in medical research. It's almost as if China read Al Gore's book in 2000 and ran with it, while the US dissed it, and now Trump is actively destroying our participation in that sector. A current example is medical research. In 4 months Trump has destroyed much of NIH's current research by cancelling studies and forcing scientists to seek new homes, likely abroad. Meanwhile US pharma companies are licensing research in China. Are we abandoning our lead in that area too?

I sure hope that the US has spent and is spending the same effort to spy on China.

As for my views of China, think whatever you want. US/China have a complex relationship and history that too many people reduce to Mad magazine's Good Spy Bad Spy level of thought. But hey, if knee jerk simplicity is your thing, go for it.

If there’s a history of the US stealing China’s proprietary intellectual property please post links. I wouldn’t want to be a simpleton

I’m particularly interested in being educated in the history of the US government stealing the property the private property of Chinese citizens or universities like they’ve done to the citizens of the US. Appreciate the education in advance

Where do you see CPI six months from now? 3.5% 4% Higher ?
Jaime Dimon sees the price increases beginning in July, and ramping up all the way to October. We shall see what the next 3 or 4 months bring. I think this is the calm before the storm.

CPI 4% or greater would be very bad for the economy as well as our debt service costs.

Between Israel & Iran? I'll believe it when I see it. There have been rumors for weeks and months. Is Trump pumping the rumor mill more, or just that warning during the last week or two? More saber rattling or the real deal?

I’m not sure evacuating our embassy personnel is saber rattling. Iran reportedly hit 60% uranium enrichment last month. That number has always been Israel’s red line. Should knows whether this is real fairly soon

I don't know how Israel plans to hit anything in a quick strike that ends up being a slow strike, w/ our President spreading the word. They take everything underground with any kind of warning.

Those facilities needing to be destroyed are already underground. Missiles won’t do the job here. Going to take bombers with bunker busting bombs. This will take a major operation. If Israel is doing this it’s smart to get our people out first. This will get very ugly

If this does comes to pass....

With Russia occupied with Ukraine, I doubt they would be able to provide much assistance if we are helping Iran. China is another story though. Can't read how Trump will react to this conflict if it happens. They need our assistance with heavy duty bombers.

Are stealth bombers capable of carrying her required payload? My guess is no. Israeli would need our help to take down Iran air defenses and possible fighter cover as well one would think. I assume if we’re evacuating personnel then we’ve already green lighted the operation …right ?

I would think we would evacuate whether we greenlighted the operation or were strongly against it. Either way we need to get our cilvilian and government officials out of the embassies. No way to know what Iran will do, no matter our position.

Do you believe Israel is capable of sending heavy bombers into the heart of Iraq and successful attack the most heavily defended complex in the country without our assistance ?

Not really but I think you need to change one letter on the country in question. I just don't know how much they would attempt to do, because they are in a rock in a hard place. Either way, us clearing out our embassies is not the signifier. Whether they would attempt it with or without our help is the signifier.

I shouldn’t post and drive :) IRAN
