The first 100 days

It will take popular revolt to pull us back from the brink.

Contact your congressional representatives. Tell them we want to use tariffs as a scalpel and not a sledgehammer. Tell them you are hurting.

Wrong. We are the largest economic consumer in the world. No country can thrive while placing tariffs on our goods so long as Trump’s policy continues. Many won’t be able to survive hence why some are already trying to make a deal & removing their tariffs entirely!

China calls Trump's bluff because he knows it will hurt the US at least as much as it hurts China. Leavitt said Trump, has a 'spine of steel'. What he has is the attitude that it doesn't matter what the every day citizen goes through with these tariffs. He's playing Russian roulette with the American citizen.

Siding with China against hard working, god fearing Americans is you siding with your slave master, the very racist most racist demagogue on earth who plans to extract every ounce of power you or any of your compatriots have to ever earn financial freedom for time in its eternity!

I want the people who are rightly questioning the democrats outcries wondering “what’s so wrong with America being rewarded in kind for its production?” To PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THIS! THESE PEOPLE BELIEVE YOU ARE INHERENTLY EVIL & WRONG BECAUSE THEY HATE THE USA THEY BELIEVE THE USA WASNT FOUNDED BY SACRIFICE & HARD FOUGHT EARNING OF THEIR FREEDOM FROM OUR SLAVE MASTER (ENGLAND THE THRONE) AND THAT FOR ENDING SLAVERY FREEING BLACK AMERICANS YOU DESERVE TO BE BENEATH EVERY OTHRR COUNTRY ON EARTH!

Taxes were meant to fund war. The time of US citizens paying taxes is coming to an end.

What happens if Jerome Powell fails to lower interest rates as is mandated by Law to adjust for Treasury fluctuations?

Gold Standard? A New Standard.

ERS. External Revenue Service.

The democrats want you to pay them not the foreign nations already blocking American producers from optimal capital gains.

A byproduct is foreign companies forced or more incentivized to relocate to U.S. soil which fuels economic growth & jobs.

The democrats are against you benefiting from the most efficient model of enabling all U.S. citizens to their birthright of tax free generational wealth in world history.

Your foreign car will soon be produced here. Your failure to welcome these businesses is of less consequence than your objection to it. You’re welcome.

“Easter is our timeline.” 3 year project. “The operation is over.” Why is Easter significant?

A resurrection with all glory to His Resurrection!

To those of wayfair your comeuppance to us will be way more than fair.

Those of you arguing supporting Dems not affiliated we will welcome you with open arms. Tom Hanks can declare himself Greek or whatever the fucc he can’t escape US Justice.

He is obviously intelligent. Sad to see this stuff happening.
Manic and easily influenced by what he reads on the dark net is not a good combo. There are major flaws in his logic, but that could be explained by the illness.

Yes. He makes a lot of sense until he doesn't.

Doesn't take him long to get to the not making sense though. I think he drives at leisurely pace until he starts putting out nonsense, and then he floors it. He's threatening to other members of the board(in person) though which is not good. Anybody who careens off the road in religious extremes is dangerous.

I mostly stay off the radar for reasons like this. You are one of the few who I have met irl. Maybe 5 or 6 total.

Not that it would be too hard for someone motivated to figure it out.

I've met about 15 irl. Thank god he's not one of them.

The idea that tarrifs alone will achieve much is silly. Trump only thinks about money and interest rates but successful industrial policy is far more complex. For example destroying our federally sponsored research capability cripples one of the US’s unique and critical strengths. Ignoring that there are key components that we cannot make and that China does is also missing. Simple answers have political appeal but the world is more complex. And as we are finding out, even just the money and interest elements are far more complex than Trump pretended.

I’ll bite…given time, why are there key computer components that the US cannot make? Solely relying on China for key components is a very dangerous game to play

I think we can make many computer components, though the Chinese stranglehold on various mineral supplies will make some things costly for us to do.

We will have a mountainous problem in replacing the computer nanometer chip production from Taiwan though. Were technologically behind there by leaps and bounds.

Chip War by Chris Miller does a good job of explaining the complexity and interdependencies in cutting edge computer chips. It’s not just money. Also a good read.

I would strongly advise the US to address this issue. Not sure Taiwan is the answer either btw

Remember when Japanese made meant cheap leaky ball point pens? Korea the same before Samsung, Lucky, Hyundai and Kia became known for quality. There are specialty areas now where some China sources are currently irreplaceable. Biden was luring those areas to US without cutting them off first as it takes time and capital. Chaos makes for good press but a poor environment for business and investment.

Agreed. Micron can hold its own in memory chips but we have nothing like TSMC’s and Samsung’s ability to actually make cpu/mpu chips. Nividia/Apple design but can’t make chips. Intel can’t compete at the fabrication level.

This will be clearer by the end of this summer. Okay, worst case scenario it’s unlocked within a year but it won’t be that long.

“Given time, why are media corporations that lie claiming there are key computer components that the U.S. cannot make?”

FIFY

It is a lie. The why is they hate the USA, they dig cheating the American people while sleeping with & cheating on each other. Total degenerates.

We have the same capability to make computers as the countries that leading in production of every single computer chip, part & component.

The fabs are the problem. Those are hundreds of billions of dollars, and by the time you make yours for a certain chip size, you’ve already fallen behind and TSMC has moved 2 sizes smaller than you.

That’s what the Chips act was trying to do…. Not that it was a fix-all… but it was a step in the right direction.

Defunding research from the federal government was probably not a great direction.

Yes. US funded basic research is what VC backed entrepreneurs and companies further develop and productize to make their money. Trump is destroying the country ‘s core technological asset to score political points.

Biden worked with Congress to pass his infrastructure/chips act so investors and companies could make the huge long term investments involved. Also to build a fab requires special equipment from outside the US, especially Netherlands plus years of training on it. Who is going to trust EOs and chaotic decision making?

It’s a distraction to pass a $4T addition to the national debt via a tax cut and taking away people’s healthcare.

The US is addressing this issue but the answers aren't telling us we can invest this much, put our best minds to it, modify our production in some set way, and we will achieve self sufficiency in 5 years. Some of the answers are more open ended and/or negative.

It is not just high tech products. Spoke with a guy who runs a company making high end motor cycle accessories He spent a decade working with multiple Chinese suppliers to put together his product line. Said it would take years to reproduce that in the US IF he could find someone who could equal the quality. It would cost much more.

Great summary of US today from Aussie perspective.

As Trump and China refuse to blink on tariffs, the biggest consumer splurge in history is over

if I import wine for $2.00 a bottle and sell it for $10.00 and there is a 38% tarrif, the consumer price will be $10.76 not $13.80

Virtually no product out there has enough costs to overcome that the maker sells it at a 500% mark up. What a silly way to try and cover up the amount of mark up. You have no idea what tariffs will do to the market, and how much inflation will exist. But you will find out soon

if Trump has the balls to carry through. When the demand for a food product can't get lesser to any real extent, and you are paying 100% additional, and 40% additional, and 20% additional tariff you will know exactly what a tariff does to you. When your tariffs cost you 23%(estimate) overall higher costs on top of the already presently inflationary prices, you will know.

why do the US tarrifs on our imported items hurt our economy, while in other countries the tarrifs on their imports not hurt their economy?
