The first 100 days

BTW, what's with MAGA Republicans (are there non-MAGA Republicans left?) hate fetish with 3 letter acronyms? First it was CRT, next was BLM, then came ESG and how it's DEI. What's next? DAD? MOM?
It’s like you’re forgetting the election which occurred less than 60 days ago. Yes…there is a growing number of non-MAGA pubs or at least those who register and vote Pub. Will that change going forward…maybe. However, the Dems are going to have to stop catering to extremist to reclaim Hispanics and the working class.

I said he could be lying. I said he would likely be an extremist. I never said I believe him. Pretty spot on as I’ve been about most things. Ukraine, inflation, Biden admin censorship, vax mandate unconstitutional, covid origins, Kamala same candidate she was in 2020, etc..

You constantly misrepresent (nice term) what I post on this board. It’s fine to make mistakes (I make my fair share). However, in all the times you have misrepresented or simply lied about what I’ve said you’ve never once apologized. I found in ironic my response to you statement questioning my belief Trump knew nothing about 2025 was another instance of you misrepresenting me claiming I said I believed him. You’ve now made that falsehood twice Why do you continue to misrepresent my posts ?
It’s because I don’t have the time nor desire to dig through your history.

I do recall that never once have I seen you outright come out and say that he for the most part imposes bad, not just extreme, policy.

You always put a qualifier on it. You refuse to acknowledge what’s PROBABLE in favor of what’s POSSIBLE because it minimizes the optical severity of what he is doing, what he will do, and what he has done.

We shall see who the lesser of two evils really is soon enough.

So you make up crap claiming I said it because you’re too lazy to take the time to see what I actually said. Not sure I’ve ever seen anyone admit to that

Meanwhile, Trump has started what the Wall Street Journal calls "The Dumbest Trade War in History" Dow futures drop 600 points. What a terrible treaty! Tear it up. Who did that deal anyway?

"None of this is supposed to happen under the U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade agreement that Mr. Trump negotiated and signed in his first term. The U.S. willingness to ignore its treaty obligations, even with friends, won’t make other countries eager to do deals. Maybe Mr. Trump will claim victory and pull back if he wins some token concessions. But if a North American trade war persists, it will qualify as one of the dumbest in history."

If only we had a poster who could have foreseen this coming?

Other side of the coin on Trumps 'winning policies.'

There is other stuff contradicting that he accomplished much of anything, and like Nixon is not much more than a shiiiitey assed crooked and way used car salesmen.(See all linked and pasted articles below.) Nixon was one of the last guys to pull this tariff war stuff out from his underpants. Canada started to discuss the Third Option w/ Nixon in office, and are pulling it out of moth balls now. The third option was divesting themselves of as much dependence on trade with the US.

China loves this because it weakens us, and they step into the void of our weakening power, as well as pick up our slack with local trading partners. Kudos on China for pulling this mini salvo in the Trump trade war. They want this trade war w/ our closest allies. Now we have something to blame inflation on, instead of people not listening to the issue of Trumps tariffs causing inflation in our economy, not China's taxes, tariffs, and export controls on us. Export controls on metals needed for computers and consumer electronics can hurt us immensely.

This dumb self-aggrandizing game Trump is playing at is going to hurt a lot of people if China can find a way to prolong it. Eliminating .1% of our economy,(foreign aid) placing a semi limited tariff on our world trading partners, ignoring past treaties, aiding our enemies in abetting their warring actions, etc., does wonders for our world rep. You guys thought Obama admitting some of our past faults on what you wanted to call his 'apology tour' was going to hurt us on the world stage? Not anything compared to all of what Trump is doing. Russia and China love Trump, as opposed to what the rest of the world thinks. Bravo Trump, you have provided as much advantage as you possibly could have to the Axis of Evil. Even if you lift all tariffs in the next several months, you have still weakened us with your unanalyzed actions. How does Trump think these actions make him look serious on future actions? World leaders realize he is simply playing a game of appearances. They are laughing at him.

Barnum & Baile not leaving DC for the next four years.

A Second Edition of Trump blinking f/ the WSJ.

Transatlalantic trade war going to hurt everybody.

from Reuters:

Threats of US tariffs may be political rhetoric, Polish PM says

Threats of U.S. tariffs may be political rhetoric rather than an actual threat, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said.
"Nothing should be underestimated, you have to be ready for any scenario, but it seems to me that when it comes to tariffs, using this argument against the European Union may be more political rhetoric than a real threat," Tusk told journalists.
He said the EU would act together and would be ready to respond to any U.S. action within an hour.
"We must respond adequately ... If the Washington administration decides that customs barriers are necessary - I don't believe they believe so - then the European Union must respond similarly. There is no other solution."

Canada's 'concessions' were agreed to before the election. Roughly the same with Mexico.
Wouldn’t surprise as I’ve said over and over again the tariffs you guys were freaking out about would never occur.

Going to need a reputable non partisan link for your statement.

There's bigger questions raised by enabling a team of teens and twenty year olds formed by a man admittedly on the spectrum to have unfettered access to the most sensitive, often classified personal information and payment data the government has. The same team is rapidly dismantling Congressionally created, incredibly complex institutions in the hope that it will all work out. Twitter was a tiny business compared to USAID, OMB, etc. and is still only worth 60% of what Musk paid for it. Maybe this time will be different? By the way, none of these guys have been Congressionally vetted, funded, or are under oversight. Nor have they even taken the same oath a private in the army has. What could possibly go wrong?

Bloomberg: "Trump proposed the US take over Gaza, relocate Palestinians to other countries, and rebuild it as a new “Riviera.” Speaking alongside Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said he’d be open to US troops securing the area in a “long-term ownership position”—a change of stance given his long-term pushback against America’s involvement in “forever wars.” It’s a contentious idea that prompted a stern rebuke from Saudi Arabia. Here’s why it’s so controversial. Whoever ends up in charge, with Gaza reduced to 42 million tons of rubble, rebuilding will be a huge job."

Have to wonder how this strikes all the voters who voted for Trump because Harris was not supportive enough of Palestinians in Gaza.

You don't need a reputable nonpartisan link, you just need memory. I remember most of those things happening before. The only thing new is Canada's 'Drug Czar'. What an accomplishment. Trump got them to make old claims new again, to save face. These concessions weren't made that long ago, your memory must be on the fritz.

I’m old though so my memory may very well be on the fritz as you say. All this does is support my long assertion that these tariffs you guys have been screaming about would never occur. Typical Trump. Why so many have yet to figure out how he operates is puzzling

He is leaving 10% across the board on China for now, and they refuse to capitulate. Instead they retaliate by doing things like putting export controls that hurt us, on metal necessary for electronics. They didn't retaliate by putting straight up tariffs because they know that for the most part that hurts the Chinese consumer unless strategically placed.

The Chinese tariffs are a different animal than the tariff posturing toward Mexico and Canada. Here’s my text from this past Saturday in this thread

“You guys really believe a prolonged tariff war with Canada and Mexico will occur? (If you believed inflation under Biden was going to be transitory you don’t need to answer) 😁😁”

Notice I specifically left out China. I pretty much nailed this thing from all sides.

We need to figure out a way to move the manufacturing of certain vital goods we are dependent on China for either back to US soil or another more friendly supplier. We are giving China far too much leverage going forward over the US economy and our national security.

If the board wants to scream about Trump and inflation and wrecking the economy they’re focusing in the wrong area. Tariffs aren’t the problem going forward. Trump’s pressure on the Fed to drop the Fed fund rate is another story. Luckily the Fed stood pat at their latest meeting. Can they maintain that position despite constant Trump pressure remains to be seen.
