Anyone else watching?

Temple holding on here would be nice. I'm watching on a tiny TV in my hospital room after a scheduled surgery.

And I came out of anesthesia talking about Tulsa bball. The nurse said that was a first. :)

lawpoke +100000000

Bobby get that unruly fan for standing up and cheering....

Second time Bobby Knight caught screaming at students that are in his line of sight, even offered up his seat. Temple is scrappy, no pass is uncontested.

Nic Moore is very good. He turned the game around. Manuel hit some nice 3's but set up by Moore

Couple of thoughts:

SMU has the best home crowd in the conference....and not just because they pissed Bobby off the entire game.

Nic Moore should get All-American consideration. He's damn good.

We have good guards but they are not in the Nic Moore and Ryan Boatwright category....

Boatright is not that great. He's streaky as evidenced by tonight. He's also not a great facilitator as a PG. Moore is outstanding. Give me Shaq over Boatright because of all the other things he can do.

Boatright averages over 18ppg, 4.4 assist per game, assist to turnover ratio of almost 2-1. Shoots 42% from three and 82% fri the FT line. All of those numbers would lead TU. He's pretty darn good.

Smoo deserved to win but I thought during
the key stretch Smoo fouled repeatedly
but wasn't called for it . Refs catered to the
home crowd.

Consolation - Temple falls apart late again
And now has to sit on the road until
Sunday.

Gottleib Davis et al pick Temple but noted
Tulsa has been good at home. Memo to them
TU has been good on the road as well except
at UConn.

TU wins Sunday and vaults from 48 to 40

Cinncy now at. 51 and on wrong side of the bubble

Thx to LaLa Little Rock and ORU for Ws
tonight

Poke, I just haven't seen the same type of contributions from Boatright that I see from Moore and Shaq. He can score but when he struggles UCONN loses (see tonight, game 1 vs Tulsa). When he is on, he can be a dynamic scorer, but I don't see the same facilitation from him that I do from Moore or even that of Shaq.

He'd instantly make us a top 20 team. Maybe better... Great player.

Boatright it a top guard but if we want to elevate the team we need a top big. I would trade three Boatrights for an Okafor. Our guards play at a high level and can get the job done but we will continue to struggle against teams that have a good inside game.

Nevada, that is fair. And to be fair to Boatright, the weight of UCONN was placed on him and it has sort of stifled guys like Purvis and Brimah (not that I think Brimah is all that good). That said, Hamilton is going to be an absolute superstar and I expect he'll leave early for the NBA (maybe after next year). You'll see him fill a similar role to KD in the NBA. IMO, Hamilton is a better defender than KD.

Swannegan can be the supportive big in our system. Honestly, Wright could be too if he could maintain some sort of focus for 45 seconds. I saw something in Swanny the other night I hadn't seen before and that was that step out jumper (8-12 ft). If teams have to respect that shot from him, it will break the zone down. He also moves without the ball better than Wright, and he has better hands in receiving passes than Wright. Everyone has been so high on Wright the last 2 years because we have seen glimpses of him dominating post play at times. We tend to forget that in the majority of games he plays, he picks up 2 fouls on player control fouls for dipping the shoulder into his defender because he hasn't learned that it will be called every time, and 2 fouls on trying to draw a charge, and 1 stupid foul for reaching or climbing on someone to get a rebound when he is clearly boxed out. Swannegan was extremely productive the other night without fouling.

Our interior defense and defense as a whole are adequate imo. What this team is missing is a guy who can hit over 40% from beyond the arc, has a 2-1 assist to turnover ratio and scores 18ppg. "That" guy would change the way teams defense us imo and open things up on the inside.

Would love to have an offensive big but as ususal lawpoke has this about right,

Can't argue with that. I think that player is on the team already....he just needs to confidence to shoot the ball from out there.

Temple and SMU both play aggressive in your jock strap defense. Temple is not going to give Woodard any open horse shots , he needs to move on offense off baseline and wing screens and make the defensive player work...no standing around on the perimeter. Constant motion. If James gets tired sub him out for 3minutes and then back in. These next games are do or die for TU to get in the tournament.
