Temple Game Thread

This is NOT Tulsa basketball!!!

We keep playing down to the level of our competition. Or below it.

Wow! Just wow!

I blame Haith. His team is so unorganized and silly and careless.

Tulsa stinks and stinks bad. FIRE this man now!

Lawson was held bad there. Otherwise we get a wide open layup

Frank should stay up there and his ticket back to Tulsa revoked. Enough is enough.

We have to be the dumbest team in America! This team is not tough in any way and certainly this isn't Tulsa basketball! Get rid of Haith and his recruits now!

Haith is awful. Just one stupid coach and a lazy recruiter. He should leave... most frustrating loss IMO all season. And most telling as Tulsa looked unorganized, unfocused and just ridiculous in its sets on both ends.

I am beyond pissed with this one. Fire Haith!!!! It's gonna happen. Just do it already!!!

Truly terrible play to close the game including lazy passes by our best players. Gravely disappointed in Taplin and Etou in particular. They are capable of so much more.

This is how we follow up the WS game? It's no wonder no one is coming to the games. Temple was asking for us to put them away but as usual we find a way to save someone's season. This team is pathetic.

Taplin gets picked, acts hurt goes to the bench. Another possession or two later down the stretch, they double off our high pick, Taplin spazzes out and steps out of bounds. Dude needs to grow up. As good as he played vs. Wichita, did some nice things tonight, but you can't turn it over down the stretch like that.

I did not like the coach interview.

Was hoping he would call out his team to be mentally tougher and to play smarter down the stretch.

I would've like to have heard a little responsibility for the end of the game calls coming from him.

Good calls by Temple to foul us 5 times.
Unbelievable that they only had 2 fouls with 9 seconds left.

Still, too much laziness and sloppy play by TU.

And yet zero energy from us, knowing Temple could basically just commit non-shooting fouls until time expired.

That too. Perhaps it requires a bit of distance and reflection. But frankly it should not have come down to that possession. This was a Wisconsin level collapse down the stretch.

I don’t like the way we managed the end of the game but he’s not the one dribbling or making lazy passes or missing uncontested layups or FTs. I felt like Haith did fine with rotations and he seems to have found the 5 he wants to go to in crunch time. But the end has to be on the players. After Temple fouls on purpose after the 1st inbounds, you need to run a screen for a shooter and shoot on the catch so they don’t have time to foul.

He should have called out himself. The only reason Temple was able to employ the “hack a cane” over the final 13 seconds was because Haith took a TO which allowed them to go over that plan.

I’m not a NeverHaither, but whose fault is it when players are making the same mistakes in crunch time over and over again. Surely there’s someone who is paid money to ensure players improve

@drboobay That was a weird post, it had a faded out expand at the end of the quote, and your new stuff within the text of the old quote when I clicked on the expand. Never seen that before. Then I quoted it and it didn't even act like it had been quoted.

Tulsa won't sniff 15 wins... the wheels are off.

You blame the coach. He is not getting players to play, mistakes repeating all season long, losing record and there aren't many horses in the stable.

Yes it looked funny to me. Same process to post as always though.

I agree...but that wasn’t this game. You put the ball in the hands of your junior PG who played the best of all players on the court on Saturday and who played like that much of the 2nd half tonight and then all of a sudden goes into turtle mode. You don’t expect him to do that. Heck, we made a ton of mistakes and turnovers in the 1st half, obviously Haith made adjustments and got those things fixed as Tulsa only had 2 turnovers in the first 17 minutes of the 2nd half. How do you foresee the tightness and the nerves from these experienced players? I know Haith is not free from blame in some of these collapses but there are times I shake my head because you expect better from Etou and Taplin.

I struggle with everyone else on why this team is not consistently better. We’ve seen that they are almost all capable of being good to very good and all teams have the occasional stinker of a game...I don’t know of Haith is the answer for us and it may be time to move on. While games like the Wichita State game impress people and recruits....games like tonight scare those same people off.

An ironic game, their fans have absolutely no idea what we are going thru...

They miss two free throws and we let the rebound bounce with no energy to get it at all. They pick it up a make a three. Starting lineup sits cold in front of scorers desk for a long, long, time watching the lead vanish.

For some reason we don't throw a pass near the rim in the closing seconds. Refs blow the shooting foul against Etou. Should be reviewed by the AAC.

Taplin weirdly travels and then goes completely across court coming out of time-out and unexplicitly steps on the side line. Just really a lack of mental toughness on the players and coaches. A real contrast to Bill Self and the 2000 team who would not get out toughed by anybody (except Fresno State had their number).
