SCOTUS is about to publish a decision that normalizes many kinds of political corruption as acceptable. It is over turning the bridge-gate convictions of the assistants to then governor Chris Christie as just part of the normal political process. The yet unpublished decision should give Trump staffers and parents who doctored their kids college applications a new form of cover. It also should allow a president or governor to blame staffers for corrupt decisions without the staffers running the risk of prosecution.

This is the second in a series of SCOTUS decisions making corruption ‘normal’. Because Trump is now in office it will be a partisan issue now, but it will cut both ways over time.

These SCOTUS decisions by conservative justices to decriminalize corruption in office seem at odds with claims that conservatives will drain the swamp.

Trump has appointed more former industry lobbyists to oversee their former companies and industries than ever before while SCOTUS is reducing the ability to police the opportunities for corruption that creates.

OTOH I guess one way to drain the swamp is to make formerly illegal activities legal and redefine what a swamp is
