If you aren't a Split Zone Duo subscriber, they have a free podcast, but they do several college football podcasts per week. They're very tied into the sport and seem to have a lot of good connections to fill in details. One of the special podcasts they did was partnering with Rodger Sherman to produce a story primarily focusing on how awful the Trent Dilfer hire was for UAB. They talk about a lot more than just record but focus on the process that resulted in Dilfer being hired.

After finishing the Dilfer story, they did a "draft" of the worst hires in CFB since ~2010, again focusing more on process and "fit" than pure W/L record. Kevin Wilson for Tulsa was drafted 3rd, though I think they might be lacking some context in how we ended up with him. The reason Wilson ends up 4th despite being the 3rd pick is that they all agreed that Dilfer was the worst hire, and he was excluded from the draft.

Another interesting pick they made was Steve Addazio to Colorado State. They discuss Urban Meyer's involvement in that coaching search, which included Kevin Wilson as one of the four main candidates. Colorado State nixed him after looking into the issues at Indiana. But one of the things that dissuaded coaches from applying for that job was a nepotism requirement -- it was understood that to get the job, you had to agree to hire Urban Meyer's son-in-law, Corey Dennis, as the QB coach. You might note that he is now our QB coach.
