Very well said. This is as poorly coached team as I’ve ever seen at TU.
They were 238 before the game, now at 225. We were 233, now 245.
After this loss we are now the worst rated team in the AAC.
We are down two scholarship players and trying to find anything that might work.
Three scholarship players. No Nash, Garcia, Barnes. Let's eliminate Reed & Wright, ummh okey. That leaves us with 7 players including Behrend who really shouldn't see the floor until next year. That leaves us with 6.
People should think about the situation before they pop off with remarks.
Weren't you the person (or one of the people) saying it didn't make sense to fill our roster??????????????????????

This is a roster management issue. There is no universe in which McWright should have been asked to return to this team. Reed probably should have been severed as well, though I could see Konkol taking one last flyer on him given his weight reduction so I'll give a pass on that. Not recruiting a big better than Behrend is also a problem. You're not wrong that playing a short rotation is rough... you just aren't putting enough emphasis on WHY we're having to play a short rotation. It's because of the guy standing in khaki pants on the sideline.
I'm happy to offer my services to Carson if he would like a formal Root Cause Analysis on why his basketball program blows and his arena will be empty in 2025.

You have the roster you have, that can't be changed. But you go on moaning about what can't be changed and say reed and Mcwright shouldn't be out there today. He filled the roster with Behrend because he couldn't get the bigs that were better and took a chance on him. Filling the roster would have added another Mcwright. Why have two Mcwrights when one is not good enough. And everybody was high on Reed until they saw him backslide instead of improving.
You say things that make no sense, and don't address reality. You just want to address roster management in answering me, when I'm talking about working with what's on the roster today. That will not change until the season is over.

Well I wrote the game time down at 7 and when I pulled into the parking lot around 630 I thought where are the cars? Then I checked espn and saw the disappointing final. Spared myself some agony I guess. Agree that Konkol needs to go. Southern may win its league but it is unacceptable that TU could not win this game at home.

Although there certainly are roster issues and injuries?, the style of play and offensive plays and lack of defense is really what concerns me. Southern took us to school after we cut the lead in the second half. We had no inside presence and no rotation allowing Southern one on one moves with good finishing at the rim. WE frequently broke down their pressures defense but have little talent to finish, (especially when Barnes is not out there) and good defensive rotation by Southern.
Just really sad. As bad of program as I can recall in over 50 years.
People say Phillips teams worse. Not so sure.
Injury to Garcia and Barnes. Death for Nash. Other players playing through injuries.
I am sure we are not as bad as Phillips. But that really doesn't matter. Level of bad is unimportant.
I have a problem that I don't see addressed, which I can't understand. Why hasn't he added some zone defense. Has he tried them in practice, and feels like we can't execute them well enough to improve our defense? Going from zone, to man to man, to a slightly altered zone seems like it would be good to keep the other team off kilter. It seems as if we have decent defense until late in the shot clock much of the time, and they finally get a result late.(foul, basket, etc) Eighteen to twenty seconds of defense and not getting a steal or travel, or forcing a shot just delays the inevitable it seems.
Like it or not, SMU athletic department is doing something right . Once upon a time SMU and Tulsa were
rivals, now we are in the ditch in both major sports and they are excelling . Tulsa really needs to pull
their heads out of their ass and invest some REAL money because nobody is going to support this
nonsense. Poor product , poor entertainment and piss poor commitment equates Tulsa's athletic
status of floundering on the rocks .
They also have donors who are willing to donate to the cause more than we have. It takes real money to do that properly.
