SMU Gamethread

I hope my excitement for the new recruits doesn't lead to the disappointment I've felt with Atson. From watching highlights of all the 2016 I thought for sure Atson was going to be the star of the bunch.

Maybe I'm just a lot worse at evaluating players than I give myself credit for.
I think we all are a little disappointed. all we heard before the season was how good and tuff atson was and how much of a scoreing (sp) machine he was. battle just did not understand the defensive scheme. igbanu, magnay and korita will be just fine with a full summer of work in the gym and in the weight room. I hope the defensive scheme is looked at and improved.

It all comes down to the fact that you usually need the best players to win. If you don't have the best players then you had better be the best at X and O's.

I definitely underestimated just how good Woodard was, being able to do what he did game after game against the players in this league.

Zero ball skills. Just charge into the lane and throw it up and hope for a miracle or a foul. He is at best a third or fourth off the bench.
if you are talking about wheeler, I agree. taplin and Henderson do this some. Henderson has learned to shoot the mid range and 3 pointer and not drive as much. taplin has started to drive and kick it out more now than earlier in the season. in the smu game, wheeler and taplin went back to driving into the lane and getting blocked or turnover. too much rim protection in this conference. defense is terrible. we can not simply try to out score the other team and not play defense.

Team with the best player on the court wins more than half the time....
Team with the 2 best players on the court win about 75% of the time....

I'll take having the better players over X's and O's every day in BB.

Of course, the X's and O's can't stink. Mediocre is fine.
