SMU Game Thread

Horrible offensive possession where Jeffries passes up on a wide open 3 with 6 seconds on the shot clock and Etou airmails one back to the Congo. Then we come back down and leave McMurray wide open beyond the arc-again.

And don’t save the ball under your own basket...if you do anything chuck it all the way to the back court and make them use more time

I can understand running clock with a lead but you can’t pass up good shots and turn the ball over.

Henderson WTF!!! Just throw it off the damn guy’s leg so you get to inbounds again. Such a dumb f-ing play. And we seriously need to hit the weight room. Our guys are just weak with the basketball

Norman Osborn is not a good coach

9 point win against a 7 man team... without fouls down the stretch it is likely a 3 point game.

We have to upgrade talent to compete in this league.

We cannot let three players from the metro get lost to in conference foes.

When you play an undermanned opponent it’s human nature to relax. That’s what happened tonight.

Teams that relax don’t win championships.

This should have been the game where we ran them out of our gym and exorcised some demons. Instead we just showed them that their bench can play even with our starters.

A win is a win, but watching the game in person, we should’ve won by 20.

I won’t say we don’t have talent on this team. That’s simply not an accurate statement. BUT we don’t have ENOUGH talent on this team to play the style of ball Haith wants... would having a 6’10 Australian helped us out in a few games this year? Yes. I think we’d have a least 2-3 more wins than we do right now with him on the roster. But to get to an elite level - like Cincinnati and Wichita State, we have to land some more big time recruits... especially ones in the metro area and near by.

Temple is good. #46 RPI before win tonight, #3 SOS. Wins vs. #20 Clemson, #17 Wichita, #11 Auburn, South Carolina, Wisconsin. Should have beat #8 Cincy had Dunphy not gotten T'd up in final 2 min for tossing water. Lost 55-53. They're currently 4-6 in conference, #7 in standings. But may have one of the better shots at a tourney bid.

I agree Temple’s a good team with a good resume, yet our loss to them in Philadelphia was a huge disappointment at the time.

This Tulsa team is so hard to figure out. One game it looks like we’re really good, the next it looks like we’re miles away from good. If Haith can get this team hot at the right time, especially with Jeffries back, we might surprise some people in March.

My must beat list is nearly complete - ORU, U Conn, Memphis and SMU. Missing is UH which can only happen in the tournament.

TU still has only 2 home Ls, the unforgivable opening game flop v. Lamar and a 3 point game vs. WSU.

Add Cinncinatti (which would be so sweet due to their Coach Douche) and the season is nearly complete. Add Temple and bingo!

I think it would have been more than that. Having him in the middle would have changed the complexion of this team, especially early when Igbanu was recovering from his off season injury. I think we would have at least 5 more wins. We’ve really only been blown out a couple of times this year.

Most satisfying teams to beat in the American:

1) Cincinnati
2) Memphis
3) SMU

Good win tonight!
How are those whiney UCONNers not here. THey are such bitches
Did everyone see the article where Dan Orlovsky blames the AAC for the state of UCONN football and basketball? Saw the thread on Twitter. Paraphrased, Says kids used to be promised a chance to play against Syracuse, Virginia Tech and Miami. Telling them they have a chance to play against Tulsa and SMU just doesn’t have the same pull and this why they are struggling.

Hmmm....if I look at total athletic dept performance since we’ve been in the AAC, TU has been better than UCONN. And our men’s basketball record might be better. And our football record might be better. Maybe their coaches just can’t coach.
