They are scrimmaging right now anybody there tell us how they looked. I couldn’t get in they have a man with a list at the gate. I did run into Bryce Bray’s dad and he thinks Bryce will probably start. Looked like quite a few people in the stands
For some reason I just pictured this duck hunt style and one of the assistants popping up holding the drone like the dog would do in the game. But kdub would likely shoot it out of the sky with a shotgun.
That brought back some memoriesFor some reason I just pictured this duck hunt style and one of the assistants popping up holding the drone like the dog would do in the game.
Would the assistant dare laugh if KW missed shooting it down though? For some reason I just pictured this duck hunt style and one of the assistants popping up holding the drone like the dog would do in the game.
Probably the real reach Guerrieri wasn't here very long!!1Would the assistant dare laugh if KW missed shooting it down though?
It may be disappointing now, and more so if we don't have a winning season, but it's smart with regards to hiding some things before we run into Washington and Oklahoma. One of our biggest complaint revolved about Monty being so damn predictable, and Wilson closing ranks provides an opportunity to squelch that in the short term. If all is going well behind closed doors we shouldn't need to show much against Ark-Pine Bluff which will challenge the preparation of Wazu and Gooner due to the lack of information on who, what, and how he plans to put on the field. I've got my fingers crossed that the approach works and he opens things up in the future, but now is a time he has the opportunity to catch folks off guard. It's disappointing that the fans and media have been mostly shut out from the program. They better win this season or nobody will know this team even exists anymore.
Disagree. This is an example of a coach trying to control everything. It’s pretty easy to have an open scrimmage or practice here or there and just keep it super vanilla. It’s not like specific game plans are being installed right now anyways. It may be disappointing now, and more so if we don't have a winning season, but it's smart with regards to hiding some things before we run into Washington and Oklahoma. My post was more from a Devil's Advocate type of perspective, as I can see it both ways and like so many others, would like to have a greater flow of information. To that a light scrimmage running base packages would have done a great deal in projecting good will versus paranoia.I find myself agreeing with rusty, but then I also agree with 918 and poke. Lol can't make up my mind.
KW certainly doesn't seem to want to excite and engage the fan base. He is kind of the anti-Konkol in that regard. So as it's been said, he had better win or else the fan base may go away quickly.
It's kind of like a new significant other.....those little quirks that are cute at first can become really irritating over time, and worse if things aren't going well.
I can see both points , from another point , it would be kind of boring to see just a bunch of basic plays, and we don’t want people to see what we are going to be doing ( looking at you ou) so I’m fine with all of it not being shown to the public , but he better winMy post was more from a Devil's Advocate type of perspective, as I can see it both ways and like so many others, would like to have a greater flow of information. All good , I understand what you are getting at. I agree that showing a scrimmage shouldn’t be the ultimate reason for he better win . In all honesty , most spring games really don’t show us much anyway . Are they something that can get fans something to go do ? Sure , but they are not anything like the excitement from a real game so I could really care less if we have one or not , but I know it’s a long wait until football season and people just want something to seeBut he better win because he didn't show us a scrimmage?
Some of the board is edging towards over expectation. Surprise, surprise.
My feelings of 'he better win' is not affected by him allowing us to see or not see a scrimmage. Just another excuse to feel that way.
(It's not just you saying that @TULSARISING. So don't think I'm picking on you in particular.)
its still about perception. it may be all vanilla but you are allowed to see something and in certain times that can settle nerves and sustain hope....My post was more from a Devil's Advocate type of perspective, as I can see it both ways and like so many others, would like to have a greater flow of information. Let me state it a different way. The scrimmage is a very small part of the overall picture. But he better win because he didn't show us a scrimmage?
I have a feeling his policies might change a bit in year two.Let me state it a different way. The scrimmage is a very small part of the overall picture.
Fans overlook a coach's grumpiness or idiosyncrasies if he's winning. But they turn quickly if he's losing. We had scads of people continue to support Monty because he was a nice guy.
You must not be watching Suns/Clippers. That one is going to be a very good series. Also he could have shown mercy on us by giving us some TU football to watch and talk about instead of the god awful NBA playoffs, baseball, and golf
It might be good for stakeholders in the program like fans and the media to be just as disciplined as the players. I for one am a little perturbed at the local media, who otherwise couldn’t be bothered with covering the program, complaining about access. Same with fans behind a computer screen complaining about the lack of a spring game who couldn’t be bothered to drive downtown on a Saturday much less up from Dallas last year.
People don’t value something if it’s readily available. Most especially self entitled reporters.I don’t think those are the fans on this board. What does discipline for a fan even mean in this context? Don’t ask for the things you want to happen?
Any idea how to listen or watch? I’m pretty skilled with the social media and email… TU doesn’t do well promoting things like this.So there is a TU football presser today at 11am. Hopefully KW will give some meaningful info about what transpired throughout spring practice. If reporters ask any meaningful questions.
First question from the press....So there is a TU football presser today at 11am. Hopefully KW will give some meaningful info about what transpired throughout spring practice. If reporters ask any meaningful questions.
You don't have to watch. Noble just gave a perfect summary of the proceedings.Any idea how to listen or watch? I’m pretty skilled with the social media and email… TU doesn’t do well promoting things like this.
I'm not sold to this point either and will hold my opinion until he's had a full cycle under his belt. I can see both perspectives, and through blue and gold glasses I'm hopefully that the glass is half full and he will open things up a bit next spring. To this point I'm choosing trust that Rick Dickson and Dr. Carson knew how things were going to operate initially and were comfortable with KW's plan of how things would progress over both the short and long term.I will die on my mountain that I’m not a fan of KW’s approach to almost everything thus far (based solely on the minimal amount of information that is publicly available).
If he’s implementing things in spring practices he’s worried about other coaches somehow getting access to that’s dumb. I’ve felt that way with every D1 Coach period. We will likely be projected in the bottom half of AAC, I can guarantee the other staffs are not concerned with TU spring drills and scrimmages.
I’m glad we moved on from Monty but I am CONFIDENT he’s more open approach to practices and sprint scrimmages had very little to do with his win/loss record. It had to do with game day decision making.
I’m probably in the minority on my feelings of KW and I’m okay with that. I promise I won’t be that guy that constantly rehashes my opinions of him and his approach to running a football program.
I’m just not impressed.
Brad Carson isn’t Dr. Carson. He doesn’t have a PhD. Which many faculty will remind you of quickly and repeatedly if given the chance. Until you remind them he was a Rhodes Scholar and they were not.I'm not sold to this point either and will hold my opinion until he's had a full cycle under his belt. which is one of many reasons most non faculty positions at TU hate working with the faculty. They’re pompous, self righteous, know it all’s who think they know how to run a university, but are actually only equipped to lecture on 18th century literature.Which many faculty will remind you of quickly
A bunch of Lucky Hank department faculty?which is one of many reasons most non faculty positions at TU hate working with the faculty. They’re pompous, self righteous, know it all’s who think they know how to run a university, but are actually only equipped to lecture on 18th century literature.
Either way, I still think he wins more than 5 games.I will die on my mountain that I’m not a fan of KW’s approach to almost everything thus far (based solely on the minimal amount of information that is publicly available).

My mistake and very well put with regards to the Rhodes Scholar zinger. I bet that one does sting...Brad Carson isn’t Dr. Carson. He doesn’t have a PhD. Which many faculty will remind you of quickly and repeatedly if given the chance. Until you remind them he was a Rhodes Scholar and they were not.
