Couple of thoughts. IMO most improved WR this year is Louie, caught everything much improved body as fast as ever. In second place is Hobbs moved to the outside, improved this body.
Dane is the man, moved the team every time. Close battle between Rubley and President they both played with the 2nd team until late when they got chances with the 1st team. They both moved the ball with the 1st team guys. Chad looks like a good prospect this year much improved.
The O line pushed around and protected well for Dane and the others. Bowling looked good at guard.
Running backs look strong with Brewer, Warren and Simon.
Most improved guy on Defense is Reed at safety. He ran an interception back about 99 yards and broke up a pass over the middle a real nice play.
DT is a concern as is middle LBer. Need some guys to heal up and some true freshmen help. CB may be stronger as the year goes by, Robinson #6 so fast and big for a corner. Safety I believe will also be better, they appear to be bigger and faster.

Forgot to mention two RS freshmen. Safety Cristian Williams he can lay the wood. You could hear one of his hits above all others in the stands. He jumped right up, the attitude needed. DE Trevis Gipson, Man nice wing span holds his own. Might take another year before he breaks out but ten more pounds and more coaching he may be in on 3rd and long this year. I really like the size of the DE position and more coming!
Louie seams to add something that was missing at receiver so quick and can go down so low to get the ball. Houston had a player he reminds me of gave everyone fits. Tulsa could have the best group of receivers in the nation if they are all healthy come fall.

Are you talking about Donnie Avery from Houston a few years back? He was small but blazing fast. Played in the NFL with the Rams and he got beaten up by injuries.

Did Javon Thomas play and how did he look?

That's the guy! Did not see Thomas. Just three backs unless someone slipped in.

At least 4 RB's played. Flanders scored a TD.

Age has advantages and the obvious. Glade he played, will need him.

Yes, it looks like Pres or Rubley for back-up QB-very glad to see that they both can throw it with some accuracy. But I wonder why Will Hefley never gets a mention. Here's a kid who had a fantastic HS career. Is he hurt?even still on the team? Also very glad to see B. Umblance back to WR from CB. Caught 2 for 42 & will help with depth @ WR.

It has taken a while for Rubley to get into the conversation. Maybe Hefley just needs some development.

  • Kind of curious to hear Javon Thomas did not play. Wonder if he's nursing an injury?

I asked Kelly Himes and she says he's not in the top 4 of the depth chart. Hard to believe when you lose your bruiser of a back to graduation and another back left the team.

Wow, after all the good things I heard about him, I thought this would be a breakout year for him. Hoping it's because the rest of our backs are getting better. After Brewer, Warren, and Flanders, who is in the top four, Rowdy Simon??? Is Rowdy a walkon, or did he get a scholarship?

No stats on Javon Thomas in last Sat scrimmage. Rowdy Simon had 69 yds on 19 carries & a short td run. Ramadi Warren had 77 on 13 carries. Looks like Simon is in the mix but don't know if he has a scolly. Also, TU may have found a new slot guy in David Snelling, 5'9" rs fr. walk-on from Boerne,Tx. Kid had 4 catches for 74. Also had a great HS f'ball & track career & was 2nd team all-st. TU Football: 1st,last,always!
