RIP Gailard Sartain

May Gailard rest in eternal love and peace.

After Gailard left the TV shows on KOTV and KTUL, he had a short lived radio show on KAKC when I worked there. This audio is an accurate representation of how chaos ensued.

I had no idea any recordings of Gailard’s radio show existed. This is how the show often went, especially with the callers to the station portion of the show.

One week, Gailard asked a caller what he thought of the show that evening - “Not worth a f***!” was the reply. Unfortunately, there was no tape delay and the comment went out over the air. Without missing a beat Gailard replied quickly, “Not worth a duck, ladies and gentlemen - he said not worth a duck!”

After that week the engineering folks were asked to cobble together a tape delay system since Carl Mark was certainly not going to pay for one. What we built was quite the Rube Goldberg type of device.

So soon after his buddy, Jim Millaway. They worked together for a long while.

Hate to see this.
While Gailard was attending TU he went to a sorority party with peanut butter on the bottom
of his shoe that looked like dog chit , crossed his leg while sitting and reached down and got a big
finger of the "Dog Do" surprise and stuck it in his mouth .

That made me laugh.
I had a good imagination of how that came across at the party.

Gailard Sartain passed away last night.

He will be missed.
My former brother-in-law was on the TU golf team when Sartain was at TU. He had a funny story that involved a punch in the face, but I can't remember who punched who.

I loved it when Sartain is smoking a cigarette in the hospital and tells Ponyboy that he shouldn't smoke.
