Rick Dickson named University of Tulsa Interim President
Rick Dickson’s story is one of deep-rooted loyalty, resilience, and transformative leadership.
I doubt he touches the student entry levels, regulations, and staff unless absolutely necessary. (as in retirement of staff)Does this mean we will be bringing Konkol-level talent, including professors and Students?
Yeesh.
I hope he helps and is very successful, but colour me very, very sceptical.
He is a caretaker that people know.Yeesh, I thought Dickson proved the Peter Principle as AD. I guess the corollary is if you're the right kind of good old boy you can just keep going up even after you've reached your level of incompetence.
I assume everything you say is accurate, and in my limited experience, that's normal. But usually the person who's the caretaker is someone on the academics side, a dean or provost. Is the best caretaker we have really an average-ish athletic director? What happened to our senior academic or administrative leadership? Is the bench empty? Or are there conflicts that prevent anyone from being able to step up? I'm less concerned about having an unqualified caretaker and more concerned that we have to settle for an unqualified caretaker. He is a caretaker that people know.
It does mean they had better get moving on a real hire.
I can name 5 profs who would have been a better choice off the top of my head lol (department heads, deans, etc…)I assume everything you say is accurate, and in my limited experience, that's normal. It's bizarre. I thought it was a joke at first, like is it April 1?I can name 5 profs who would have been a better choice off the top of my head lol (department heads, deans, etc…)
Provost also resigned. Was only here a few years. Honestly I don't see the Dickson thing as a big deal. He is an administrator for his whole career and seemed to have a good rapport with Carson. I suspect he understood what Carson and the board were trying to do.I assume everything you say is accurate, and in my limited experience, that's normal.
