The surprise of having Jeriah Horne come back to Tulsa was an incredible development for TU basketball this season. Undeniably, Tulsa has a much better team with Horne back at Tulsa after a year away at Colorado.

The 6-foot-7 Horne has gotten out to a strong start in his return season, leading Tulsa with averages of 18.9 points and 7.3 rebounds through TU's first eight games of the season.

Can anyone imagine TU basketball this year without Horne and Griffin? Yikes.

Can anyone imagine TU basketball this year without Horne and Griffin? Yikes.

Ouch! No I can't...They spearhead, when we go 'small ball', probably the most talented starting five we have had in some time....Talented? Yes, but are we big enough and
deep enough to compete successfully in the AAC? Dalger,
Haywood, and Horne are good rebounders for their size,
but is there enough help beyond that?

Defensively, only Haywood of the starters was here last
season, and Horne was here season before last....Dalger,
Griffin and Pritchard obviously weren't....Our match-up
zone is certainly a learning process, and especially for a
team that has to this point at least, had a big personnel
turnover each season....We have made really good
progress since the beginning of the season, but we are
still allowing way too many open corner threes....We
are best when we pressure the opposing guards further
out on the court, and disrupt ball rotation....We are
getting better at that.....

This team takes better care of the ball than our last
several, and our point guard play, be it from Pritchard
or Griffin, has been an upgrade...

This is a fun team to watch....They hustle, and play all out..
Let's hope that leads to success.....

I can imagine that Haith probably had to sell his soul to Satan to have those two here. Add to that they had no interest in Pritchard until they though it would help them land Thompson. Tell me that he isn't far more than this staff ever projected for a guy who rarely ran the point in HS. Long story short Haith has escaped Purgatory for at least a year and has to be one of the luckiest coaches in America.
