Do they play Union this week? Sadly, I don't think Union's D is good enough to stop Owasso (not sure Union's D is good to stop many teams this year). The only game they didn't give up a ton of points in was the game they lost to BA 14-0.Thanks for the info. Big game this Friday, and the president of the Tournament of Roses will be in attendance as well.

I will predict the west side of the state will bitch and moan again this year about needing a change because the final four teams will still be Union, Owasso, BA, and Jenks despite Union and Jenks being down. BTW, Bixby might be able to make the final 4 in 6A-1 this year but will instead, settle for wiping the floor with everyone in 6A-2.
I have them picked to win it allYes, vs Union at home.
I feel the same way, Bixby may be the bestOwasso, Bixby and BA are the three best teams in the state this year imo.
Owasso is pretty darn good. What they did to the team from Bentonville was beyond impressive and then follow that up with an absolute trouncing of BA, who I thought was poised to repeat. And thanks to the crybabies in Moore and Edmond, we won't get to see Bixby and Owasso square off. I listened to part of the Bixby game last week vs Putnam City and it was never even close. Putnam City completed the 1st pass of the game off of one of the defenders helmets into the hands of their WR and the Bixby announcer was like "you hate to see that as a coach because you don't want the other team to get any confidence off of lucky breaks like that". 57 Bixby points later it was 57-0 and still 7 minutes left in the 1st half. I switched radio stations at that point.I feel the same way, Bixby may be the best

Is Owasso in line for the Rose Bowl? Thanks for the info. Big game this Friday, and the president of the Tournament of Roses will be in attendance as well.
Is Owasso in line for the Rose Bowl?
Owasso is probably better than half the Pac 12Is Owasso in line for the Rose Bowl?
Bixby is stupid good. They've got a couple of RBs who are crazy good and some OL who we should be looking at.Owasso has surprised me this year. I knew they would be good but, they really pull away from teams in 2nd half. I did NOT expect the BA score to be like that. Honestly, I didn’t expect the Bentonville or Fayetteville scores to be like that either.
Bixby is stupid good. I wouldn’t be surprised if they won 6A-2 with no games within 21 points.
I would like to see an Owasso vs Bixby game. Those 2 may be the best 2 in the whole state. Maybe an overall 6A championship game at the end? lol
That would be a helluva game!
My guess is they will next propose 1 of 2 things:Edmond, Moore and Norman colluded to make sure that it wouldn’t happen. I wonder if they’re still pleased with the 6A split.
My guess is they will next propose 1 of 2 things:
1) BA, Owasso, Union, and Jenks become their own class/district and play each other and a few other games and then play a 2 week super tournament for the State Championship
-or- (and more likely)
2) They propose a play off system with no cross over until the state championship game. You have a west district and an east district. Top 4 teams from each make the playoffs and you play in your own district until you have a west champ and an east champ and they play each in the finals. This guarantees a west participant. I think the last however many years has been Owasso, Union, BA, and Jenks in the semi finals and they just play on this side of the state.
And the next thing after that will be one of the legislators from the west side actually proposing a law compelling the State Dept. of Ed to break up any school that reports a daily avg attendance over 3000 and require those districts to build a new HS in order to maintain the quality of education and lower class sizes. I don't rule this out as a possibility either.
Chadwick knows why there is a disparity between the two sides of the state and it has to do with how tied in the kids in youth football are to the corresponding HS. Union's 2nd-7th graders are wearing the same uniforms and have cheerleaders, high steppers, and pom squads that go to games and learn the same routines. The kids buy in to the Union name in 2nd grade and imprinted with a goal of playing for a state championship when they're 7-8 years old. Same with BA, Owasso, and Jenks. My understanding is the HS coaches will even come to the occasional practices. (My daughter is a pom girl in Union who follows a 4th grade team...this weekend we went to Bartlesville).
Speaking of youth football...there is a penalty for tackling anyone with a high helmet. Saw a number of those penalties this weekend. I swear the ref made a targeting motion in a 2nd grade game and thought a kid was getting ejected. No ejection, but the call was for using the helmet to tackle. That was a BA team. Coach took the kid off the field for the rest of the series and spent the next 2-3 minutes showing him how to tackle properly. Good stuff.
My wife is the pom squad sponsor (not coach). Since the UYFA is not technically affiliated with Union PS, the coaches are not covered for liability if they travel to games on their own dime. I believe they get a little pay and service hours for their HS requirements but they are not required to travel or come to games. Weird.I'll probably get myself in trouble with GH2 and Pats again for talking HS/Youth sports but here goes:
BA, Union, Jenks and Owasso travel to 3 west side games and host 3 west side teams each season. The increased travel costs combined the decreased ticket sales are significant. This doesn't impact the west side schools as much though since they only have to make 1 trip per year up here. Unfortunately those teams usually only bring a handful of fans with them leaving the visitor's bleachers pretty empty.
The thing that will get something eventually changed is the fact that a west side team hasn't hosted a single 6A-1 playoff games since the split was put into place. They used to get to host a few games every year.
I'm glad that you're getting involved in the youth games. Between 2 daughters in cheer and a son in football, I put in 21 total seasons with youth football. This is where you'll start getting to know many of the players that will eventually be playing on Friday nights.
Here's a little know fact: For several years, I helped the cheer coaches create the schedules for which squads would attend each football game. That way my daughter's squad would perform at games that didn't interfere with Tulsa games and I never missed a home football game due to a cheer conflict.
