Who was the last 15 seed to knock off a 2 and a 7 seed on the way to a sweet 16 berth. Did that win change their program funding with trips to the sweet 16 ever again and make them a household name still today asking for a friend?
Tell your friend that CBS was still showing video of the Dunk City team this weekend before the USC game since their coach is there now. They and Phi Slamma Jamma will always be household names. I don’t know if ORU will or not unless they get a catchy nickname.Who was the last 15 seed to knock off a 2 and a 7 seed on the way to a sweet 16 berth. Thanks I guess losing their coach kept them from winning another game in the ncaa tournament again. I assume they are O for since that run in ncaa tournamentMax and the Miracles.
That FGCU team was a fun team to watch. And despite losing their coach after that season, they are still playing in the postseason nearly every year since then with 3 NCAA appearances and 2 NIT appearances.
They did win a First Four game a couple years after that and then put UNC on the ropes. If you look at the results of their games, they're always saddled with a 14 seed or worse yet, they always push the higher seed. It's tough to win those games. I suspect if they were given a 12 seed consistently, they'd win their share of 1st round games. I said it the other day, I fully suspect the tournament to expand and games to be hosted on campus sites to eliminate low seeded teams from pulling an upset. It's harder for the ORU's of the world to beat Ohio State at Ohio State than it is to beat them on a neutral floor. Thanks I guess losing their coach kept them from winning another game in the ncaa tournament again. If they expand and play first round on campus then all conference tournament champions should get automatic home game. They did win a First Four game a couple years after that and then put UNC on the ropes.
