OR who game thread

Weird because all TU does is block out. They dont seem to go for the ball
Yes, against ORU 4 guys blocked out and just watched the ball fall to the floor and the outside ORU player who was not blocked out simply picked the ball up off the bounce and laid it in. Dennis Rodman was perhaps the best rebounder ever and said it was more important to position yourself where the ball was coming off rather than simply block someone out. That is a skill that should be taught in high school but many college coaches don't teach it.

33% from the line and 8 turnovers is the take of the game so far. You can’t leave 6 points on the line and give them 10 points on turnovers and expect to come away a winner. We really need to clean that up.
I'm afraid at the moment that we are who you see, not who you hope to....Our guard play is not
even close to what we need.....That has been discussed at length...We do need a couple of efficient
guards going into next season, to go with what looks to be a 'big' recruiting success in the '23 class..
.Cross your fingers!!

Haith never taught it, among other things.

We all knew this season was most likely going to be a disaster. Konkol took over a program with very little on the shelf. Only time and recruiting will cure this. This year he sets the tone and next season he can start bringing in new recruits and signing early portal players when the pickings are much riper. A good big man and Selebangua at the 4 should solve some rebounding woes for next year.

Yes...I have wondered about Selebangue at the 4....He is a good rebounder at the 5, and has crafty
moves around the basket offensively, but is not a rim protector....He simply doesn't have enough
beef.....If he can defend out on the floor, that certainly is worth a trial, and might lead to bringing
our rebounding and rim defense up a few notches....

It seems more obvious as the season progresses that some "over recruiting" will be required at
the guard positions....Our guards shoot well, but have trouble with the other phases....Knowing
how much Konkol cares about his players, you would assume he will do that very reluctantly....
Tough part of the business, but our guard play must improve....

That’s one thing about Self. If he can overrecruit you he quickly will and try to find you a team where you can succeed. Keeping players you love just because you love them will get you fired eventually. If it was a player you recruited, it is harder but if they were recruited by a fired coach, it should be a quick divorce.
